Does the world need another compilation of Daniel covers? Kramer thinks so ...


2006 - The return of Kramer's Shimmy-Disc label under the new moniker, SECOND SHIMMY.

The debut SECOND-SHIMMY release will be a massive "Various Artists" compilation featuring the songs of DANIEL JOHNSTON, which will be available shortly following the DVD release of the award-winning documentary THE DEVIL & DANIEL JOHNSTON. Here is the complete artist listing and song sequence:

Kramer always did right by Daniel and he has my complete respect. I especially look forward to hearing Daniel Smith and Sufjan Stevens' "Worried Shoes".

Thanx for the info pjc. This looks like a great idea to me.
Keeping discussion of Daniel's music in the air to coincide with the DVD release, which now we know will be by October...

I can't wait to hear what Mad Francis, Jeffrey Lewis, The Sutcliffe's and Kimya Dawson do with these tunes, plus it's always nice to have Jad and Kramer hang out.

like the song choices on that , not too much duplication from the Late Great..
