I went to the benefit screening last night. It was the second time I'd seen the movie, the other being at sxsw. That movie is great.
Howdy HowdyHow,
You spent $25 to see a movie you've already seen when you could have waited 3 days and see it at regular price so I just wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU. You contributed to a very worthwhile and important cause and that deserves to be noted here.
It was a nice event with a good crowd, good food, good vibes and good questions afterwards. The thing that struck me last night after seeing the film for the first time in over a year was that Daniel is one of the lucky ones. So many people are afflicted with mental illness who do not have the things going for them that Daniel has. They don't all have loving family and friends. Nor do many of them have record deals and fancy art gallery shows. Not everyone deserves the latter two the way Daniel does but that's not the point here. Events like last night's benefit for the patients of Austin State Hospital go a long way towards helping those who aren't as "lucky" as Daniel. I put the word "lucky" in quotation marks because it doesn't quite feel like the appropriate word when describing Daniel but hopefully y'all know what I mean.
Some of the money raised last night will go directly towards buying art supplies for patients. So thanks again Howdy. Many people appreciate it.
