Anyone want to chip in to buy a housewarming gift for Dan?

I figure we may want to spend about $20 max each (since it is harder for some fan forum members to come up with more than that). Hopefully, we can get at least 10 of us.

Anyway...

I thought I would FIRST just ask who else wants to join in on a gift for Dan.

THEN,  after we know how many of us there are, we can discuss how much exactly to chip in (maybe even less than $20 each, if we can get enough fans interested!)

THEN, we can figure out how to collect the money (perhaps via my PayPal account & PO Box?)

THEN, we can vote on what to get him after all the money is collected (we can brainstorm ideas, in another thread)...

[PLUS, we can also figure out a way to include personal messages/cards, with the gift, from each fan who chipped in - For instance, they can be sent to my PO box.]

So...Let's start with STEP ONE:

STEP 1) WHO is interested in chipping in?

Henry - I think you are in, right?

I am in. That makes two...

anyone else?

Thanks, Gina

OK...fan-forum-friends...Is $20 too much?

Would $10 make more people join in?

Feel free to give feedback...
I want to do this 'correctly'...

ALSO....PLEASE.... all those who 'view this,' PLEASE give feedback...

Can you either say, "I don't like the idea of a fan-forum gift," or "I don't like the idea of giving money without knowing what 'we' are going to get him,"  or "$5 is OK with me," etc....I need 'some direction' -

Thanks, Gina

GREAT!

So...we have Me, Henry, Jordy, Will @ 20 each

Dbeefy @ 10

That's $90 so far! Excellent!

I decided that 10 has to be the minimum, since I am now promising to send a thank you, signed by Dan, to each contributor...and, it won't be 'any old' thank you, either...I'll think of something cool.

OK...so, Daniel Johnston fans...here's your opportunity to help make Dan's FIRST personally-owned (and personally earned) house more wonderful for our artistic songwriting hero!

Sign up here to add on your 10, 15, or 20 bucks smiley

ALL of those who contribute are welcome to send to my PO box a personal letter to Dan, to be included in the presentation of his house-warming gift from his fan-forum!,

PLUS, you will receive a signed, by Dan, "Thank you" card.
I will make them, and pre-address/stamp them, give them to Dan to sign, and I will then send them to you...

EVEN to Europe, or Asia, or...anywhere wink
OK...no Martians welcome...

SO....WHAT A DEAL!

10$ min...
20$ max....
give 10, 15, or 20...American dollars...

I'll need to receive your contribution by December 31st, as I plan to present this fan-forum housewarming gift to Dan in February '06 (when I visit him next month, I'll be sure to ask him what he might want/need for his new home...This fan-gift will be a surprise, though...).

ANYWAY...That time-frame should give everyone on here enough time to decide to join in (or not), and to send your money and for us to vote on 'the gift'....

I will post on another thread entitled, "Your money has been received" when I start to get some...so, you can check on there...I'll personally e-mail when I receive checks, but will ONLY publically post it as 'received' when it clears the bank.

We'll have to have a list of about 4 options to vote on, once all of the money is in, once we know how much we have total to spend......I'll get that started in another thread...just add your thoughts to it... remember, though, it has to be something that I can buy easily enough, and bring to him in a rental car...

I live in Northern Cal, so I travel via plane to Austin
If it's a big item, I'll have to buy it in Austin right after arriving...so, please keep this in mind when brain-storming ideas of what we can buy for him...

I can collect the money TWO WAYS:

ONE OPTION FOR YOU: Transfer funds from your bank or credit card, via my PayPal account (I will pay the fee for that):

IF you want to pay via PayPal, send your funds transfer to:

maryjeanreynolds@yahoo.com -  that is my PayPal ID
(FYI, my old nick used to be 'mary jean' - I go by "Gina"  now - see PPS)

OR,
ANOTHER OPTION:

You may, alternatively, send the money via
CASHIER's check, or personal check (NO cash) to me, at:

Gina Reynolds
4200 Park Blvd.
PMB #115
Oakland, CA 94602

OK...so....COME ON people!

Those of you who love DJ and want to contribute...get your name on this list, and send the mulla....

10$ is not much to help make Dan proud of his fan forum!
No one on here has to dig too far into your pockets to come up with 10$...

OK...so....Let's get this thing into high gear!

You now have OVER TWO MONTHS to join in and to get your contribution to me...
And to get your personal letter to Dan to me, too.

Oh...I am also going to take pics of him receiving "OUR" gift to him, and I will make them available to you, either on here, or via my Net photos site!

Gina

PS - If you want to keep your real name anonymous, I can do that...if you want to only use your real name in your letter to Dan and on your address for the thank you, that's fine, too... I won't publically state names other than what you use on here.

PPS - My REAL name is Mary Regina Reynolds...I am named after my mother's favorite nun (Sister Mary Regina)...ugh...no, I am not a Catholic now...I went by Mary Jean as a kid, and up until I decided to change my 'real-life' nic to Gina (in 2002).

Gina,

I think he only looks at threads that interest him and since he's been friends with Daniel for about 20 years and visits him regularly this might not be one of them.

Hi cisumevil,

Yes...an international money order is perfectly Ok - my bank does not charge me any fees on them.

Please use my full name:

Mary Regina Reynolds

Thanks for joining in!
Dan will love that fans from other countries are wanting to be part of this smiley
