Actually, No Clue cracked me up. We do not watch television, except as a monitor for Videos and DVDs, so while house sitting this week, I had to take about an hour one evening and see what's happening on that vile mechanical teet.

Everything looks like some hypnotic MTV brain trip, and ALL the people are made up (for real) and faux-beautiful. Even soap commercials! Even (ahem) the "News!" It was overwelming in under 2 minutes.

So, I thought about our guest here, and what has come to pass as talent and integrity and entertainment on TV, and OF COURSE No Clue doesn't get it. I mean, can you just imagine Daniel on "American Idol?"

Simon: "He's fat, he has stains on his shirt, he dropped his little binder of lyrics onto the floor when he came out, and he sounds like Neil Young, if Neil Young was a chipmunk on helium..."

Paula: "He's cute. I'd sleep with him!"

Other Guy: "What's up, dog? Why you singin 'bout pain and loneliness? Nobody can relate to it! Sing happy songs, dog, and comb your hair!"

So, not everybody digs Daniel. That's fine with me, and probably preferred, if I'm honest with myself. I really don't want to see him on the cover of USA Weekend or some crap, y'know? There's enough musical "product" out there to keep everybody numb for the rest of the century. Daniel will always be, like sashimi, and "acquired taste."
