Going through a break up

So ive recently broken up with my ex girl friend. and like everyone who really thought she was the one and imagined their whole life with a person when it turns out it doesnt work, ive been pretty down
I soon found out that the music i was listening to I couldnt relate to anymore. and i really needed something to give me a little hope (but not to be so happy-go-lucky as to ignore the hardships in life).
and then i suddenly remembered Daniel Johnston. and listened to "Hey Joe" and "True love will find you in the end"
its blows my mind how pure and unfiltered and real Daniels lyrics are. He really is worthy of the title "legend"
no one else has ever done what daniel has done with song.
So i just thought i would tell my appreciation for his poetry and help in the forum (i havent logged on in a while)
and if you guys have any other songs you suggest i listen to im ALL ears.
Hey Jude, come on, Joe
Don't make that sad song
Any sadder than it already is
Hey Jack, get back
Get yourself together
Come on, come on
I know you’re thinking of your nervous love
I know exactly what you're thinking of
Hey Sid, no matter what you did
It can work out, work out
No matter how you feel right now
Hey George, do your chores
Don't feel sore
I know it's a lot more than just being poor
There's a heaven and there's a star for you
There's a heaven and there's a star for you
There's a heaven and there's a star for you

I know where you are with this, itshardtofind. Let yourself feel as much as you can. Don't numb it. Listen to a lot of Daniel. Give yourself some respect for knowing who you are and what you are willing and not willing to do. Change is opportunity, so embrace it! Be gentle with yourself.
That said, I'm sure your heart will find solace in the words and music of our mutual hero...

i was going through a breakup a couple weeks back (we're back together now, so there might be hope for you) and i listened to almost only daniel johnston the whole time. Museum of Love helped me a lot, as did The Sun Shines Down on Me, I Remember Painfully, and others. These are painful songs, so i was able to really relate to them, especially this lyric: "He really loved her, he really did, and his love went round and round. And though he tried to keep it hid he had lost what he had found. He had lost what he had found." Also some stuff off It's Spooky was really applicable and helpful to me. Oh Honey, Hands of Love, and If I'd Only Known especially.
