Hi folks,

Adjustable Productions is announcing today a new concert DVD, 'The Angel and Daniel Johnston - Live at the Union Chapel', in Europe and North America, with the launch of the AngelAndDaniel.com website and the first of several trailers. Here is some of the PR spiel:

"Supported by a selection of friends, including the notable talents of James Yorkston and Adem, early collaborator Brett Hartenbach and a specially assembled group of underground British musicians, Daniel delivers definitive renditions of favourites from the breadth of his career, such as 'True Love Will Find You in the End', 'Walking the Cow' and 'Some Things Last a Long Time'. Newer songs such as 'Mean Girls...' and 'Try to Love' are introduced and a fresh shine is brought to some hitherto overlooked gems such as "Go" and "Living Life".

Presented in both stereo and 5.1 surround mixes, with a total running time of 82 minutes, featuring 21 live tracks, including bonus rehearsal footage, an exclusive post-concert interview, and with packaging based on Johnston's hand drawn artwork, 'The Angel and Daniel Johnston – Live at the Union Chapel' is a must have for long time fans and an ideal starting point for newcomers to this enigmatic artist."

Sounds good? You can pre-order the European DVD for an 8th December release at Amazon.co.uk, where you can currently get it for the rather reasonable price of £12.74, delivered.  The North American release will be available to order from 4th December. Further information on this can be found at AngelAndDaniel.com

Our PR power does not quite match that of the major labels. Therefore, the success of this DVD is very much dependent on Daniel's dedicated fans all over the world.  We need you guys to help us make sure we reach all the current and potential fans by spreading the word on the music forums, social networking sites, student newspapers, and everywhere else we can get exposure. Join the 'The Angel And Daniel Johnston - Live at the Union Chapel' Facebook group. Also, make sure to rate and favourite the trailer on Youtube.

If you have any questions about the DVD then drop me a line and I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. With our combined power, maybe we shall get Dan into the Music DVD top ten!

Kind Regards,

Robert Wheeler

Congratulations, Rob. I know the amount of personal energy you put into making this happen, and from what I've seen and heard, it is worth every drop of blood! grin

This is a most timely and welcomed addition to the lexicon we've all come to know and love of Daniel Johnston. It is a document of a perfect night, and it is a labor of love.

Thank you for your tenacity!

HL

Thanks for the positive replies folks. Sorry I could not get back to you all yesterday. I ended up working a 22 and a half hour day in the end Smiley Still lots to do to try and make this DVD as big a success as possible though.

If any of you can spread the word, go for it. I'm sure lots of you guys frequent music forums etc. Let them know its coming out. Send them to the website (angelanddaniel.com), rate the trailer in youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKlqqV5hsIk). Write about them in your blogs, embed the trailer in your blogs. Tell your friends, your neighbours, people you meet in the street... Well I won't go too far.

Also, famous people that lurk here, plug us in your interviews and TV programmes. Thank you! Smiley

Any help we can get from all you guys to spread the word is going to be a massive benefit. Adjustable is just a tiny little label that lives on it's wits. At the end of the day, its the fans that give us something actually produce. I might manage to get into a magazine or two and get to give my point of view for PR, maybe tell the odd funny story, but the REPUTATION of what we have produced comes from the judgment of the fans. So when you get this thing in your hands, I say "judge us (and be vocal about it)".

The sound is fantastic – not only because the recording is excellent, but because of the acoustics of the place. I don't have a 5.1 surround system, but my brother does, and I really look forward to hearing the surround sound mix.

Anyway, for those who haven't seen it yet, you can throw away all of your audience tapes and forget the youtube clips – this one's the real deal, and makes a great compliment to the documentary (which, as you all know, is a bit short on music).

it's true, when you're recording in a space that amazing, it's easy to capture a great sound!  Was great fun to mix in surround as well, so hopefully you enjoy listening to it as much!

Just got my copy and it is fantastic. The 5.1 sound is amazing and the picture is stunning. The intimacy you get from a  Johnston concert is captured flawlessly. Amazing job Rob, and everyone involved. Walking the Cow is the highlight for me. Thanks again Rob for all your hard work.
