Meeting Daniel Johnston for the first time

I was fortunate enough to meet the man that made all this music on August 10th, 2007 in Nashville, TN.... After seeing a performance that will not soon be forgotten, (especially the song grievances), I made my way backstage to find a kind and gracious Daniel Johnston. He seemed to be in good spirits...He gave me the photo op that I had driven over 8 hours in hopes of getting and then he told me, "good luck to you".  To Daniel, I am sure it was just another encounter with a fan.... to me, it was a religious experience.... Much thanks to Daniel and to all the folks that made the tour possible. -Sean McFall, (near Charlotte, NC)

I showed the picture to a friend of mine and she said, "If you hadn't told me any differently, I'd have thought it was a picture of you and your father!"

It's the prescription drugs! I mean honestly his parents are as much saviors as demons in my (outside the circle) opinion. I have no idea why people were so gullible to doctors advice back then. I get into it with our doctors all the time, especially when the concept of insurance comes into the conversation. Roky's mom is as guilty except she really is messed up herself. DJ's parents are as run of the mill as were Townes' parents and they let doctors mess their son's life up as well. I think people still trust doctors too much.

Mate, have you see the rubbish doctors come out with right now? Doctors position themselves as impartial benefactors of medical knowledge, and have vast studies and so on to back them. It is no wonder that a lot of people believe every last word they say, even when both prognosis and diagnosis are questionable.

I managed to shoot a whole concert, and have an interview with Daniel, and at the end I realised I did not only have no photos, but I didn't have a single shot with both myself and him in Not a major problem for me, but you know, it could have been a moment in rock and roll history

I love this new fad of renaming manic depression "bi-polar." Now that's some funny stuff right there alone. "Oh and btw your kid has add, we're going to begin with a cocktail of Ritalin and Lithium and go from there."

Manic depression means you're sad. A lot maybe but just the same sad. Pills are not going to create happiness, just bad trips.

I dont think Daniels parents had much of a choice and had to go with the prescription drugs. If they worked and kept Daniel from freaking out and harming himself or others. TVZ was more less harming himself and his parents did what they thought was right. Daniel was a threat to himself and others!

Wasn't implying otherwise; how could I as for personal character... These are just my problems with this so called medical field.

Manic depression means you're sad.

I think you are thinking of chronic or clinical depression. Bi-polar basically means the same as manic depressive: You bounce between being super happy and energetic (manic), and being crushingly depressed.
