I watched the trailer for the devil and daniel johnston which made me want to download one of his songs, so i downloaded "walking the cow". omg the first time i listened to it i fell in love with it. for some reason it brings a tear to my eye, his voice, his delivery, his lyrics what he does with the keyboard even though its just him. I love that you can hear his fingers hitting the keys as he plays as the recording is so cheap.
I plan on buying one of his albums asap. since listening to walking the cow i have been looking up daniels art work, and reading about him and am really looking forward to the devil and daniel johnston, I have grown a great couriosity on his life from just listening to this one song, i heard he had a mental condition which caused him to be extremley depressed, which again, drove me to want to know more about this man.
I can see me really getting into daniels stuff.
Just thought id post here and express my initial feelings on daniel and his work.
thanks,
Luke.
Luke,
May I suggest that you begin with early stuff such as Yip Jump or the equivelent. You need o hear the formative years first.
If you want to "HEAR" what went on in Daniels mind then I suggest 1990. I have to be honest with you. You have to have a strong stomach for that one. I have listened to it once and I have never been able to listen to it again.
Best wishes,
Fritz
