Thanks! I love this - the baby's digging it too.... Daniel occasionally plays A7 and D7 instead of regular A and D
A7 A D E7 She invited me to a pity party Every hour everyone was making fun of me I told her it really didn’t matter You can’t imagine what it’s done to my personality C F G7 I don’t know where she should go, but I lose Though I tried, like a lullaby, I lose A D E7 Once I saw her in a crazy dream She was laughing, I looked the other way Then I find that she unwinds, she puts me down behind my back Everyone seems to have a love but me, it’s what I lack C F G7 I’ve been denied the hurt inside, I lose Though she was barely a friend of mine, I lose I got left out of the “in” crowd They speak as if I was there They say the cruelest things, I seen their type A bunch of buttwipes that rule C F G7 Don’t make sense, it’s really strange, I lose Though I try, there’s no sense giving up, I lose I walk the second mile, there’s no one there, I lose I pick up the pieces of my broken dream, I lose Everyone had their fun, I lose A D E7 Yet she was a one of them from the beginning How am I to carry on, there’s no help given Then I realize it’s all reoccurrence What they’re thinking, their mind is a blur C F G7 I seen the future, and I ain’t even there, I lose I see it all, and it’s really, the same old thing, I lose They think they’re smart, all huddled together, I lose One more time, I try to make it, I lose A7 D7 E7 I lose, I lose Tell me about it, darlin’, now

I contributed a bunch of chords and tabs in the past but with a new baby I just haven't had the time. I agree with Jeff - it needs to come back to life. I'm sure many are still watching the message board, but few are posting. I believe March had only 1 post! I'll try to get some new chord charts in the future. If there are any requests for chords I'd be happy to try and post them soon.
I took a little break from DJ - now I'm just beginning to listen again. It's been refreshing. Been really enjoying the later albums recently - Rejected Unknown and Lost and Found in particular.

Kramer all the way. I really like Brian Beattie too. He kept things a little ragged and let Daniel's odd phrasings carry the songs. Kind of like listening to the band trying to follow Dylan on Subterranean Homesick Blues. You can tell they just aren't sure when he's gonna change chords. On Is and Always Was it often sounds as if Faulkner created all of the tracks first and then had Daniel sing over them - a bit too quantized. Though I admit Is and Always Was is growing on me one song at a time - the last song is my current favorite.

I'm with you wickedwill. I hadn't listened to 1990 in a while - had to put it on last night after posting. The Daniel Johnston - Kramer pairing is just perfect. Kramer's presence is so subtle - he barely makes his presence as producer noticeable. It really feels like whatever Daniel wanted on the record ended up on the record. I could imagine a more meddling producer wanting to replace the Softly and Tenderly church recording with another song, or wanting to fill all of the silences in Devil Town and Spirit World Rising.
