The two records mentioned, although badged "Daniel Johnston" releases were, in fact, the collaboration of which you speak, Doug.
Dan had little to do with anything other than providing vocal overdubs to tracks of which foundations were already laid upon walking into the studio.
I dig Fear Yourself, but there aint much Daniel Johnston going on. A few piano songs I suppose, but nevertheless. Can't say much for the other one. Heard it once, and well..................I don't hear Danny there. He doesn't even know the guy (the producer), nor can he recall his name when asked about it.

A lot of recordings exist that haven't made it to record. blame it either on A.) the digital age of downloads killing record purchase, or B.) Some certain weird syndicate of a very small handful of folks that don't want to see anything happen outside of what they had some hand in. Either way Doug, I hope that someone takes a note of your plea. There used to be a record made everyday. Maybe still is (unlikely tho), but the ones that care about it seem not to be taken into consideration. Bull**** talks and so does money.

General Discussion / Fan Forums / Re: chords to a song

I don't know the answer to your question, but I will say that what may sound like a sharp or flat or whatever on the record is probably in fact a regular major chord....you know, tape speed variance and all that need to be considered. The tapes are slower and faster and OLD and bad quality radio shack casette masters. Danny plays in mostly major ordinary chords like C/F/G E/A/D, etc.
pluck single notes until you find it, that's the easiest way to figure ANY song out on a keyboard....then translate your findings to chord progression.
Good Luck.

Okay, I've had a few of requests for the cd...SO I'm gonna just let anyone know that if they want a copy, just get with me and I'll send you one. Seems it may never get pressed officially at this point anyhow....AND for the record, I ask Nothing in return.

I'll answer this one...
It's a really fantastic album that has been complete for a couple of years, that has been held up by contractual obligations, a syndicate of folks that wish it didn't exist, and well....... I wish it would happen, as do a lot of other folks, and seemingly most of all, "the big guy" himself.
Most likely, it'll just be a really great bootleg someday.

I've often contemplated this...I personally have come to the conclusion that Dan's inherent genius (and the misunderstanding that comes with that alone), has created the monster part...not the other way around.

Fun is an amazing record...interesting that Paul got a total crap-rap on this one, his production is nothing short of killer. I own the Circus-Man Fender Rhodes, about 6 keys work on it.

The Story of an Artist on Munster Records. And you expected less from Munster, Jeff? Inigo Munster is the bees knees...with a very keen eye for detail and greatness. Very good package indeed.
