God. I still can't believe it. Thunder Road?
...
i really like mary lou lord's version of thunder road on the same record she covers  daniel's speeding motorcycle

it was recorded outside or in subways in boston or something...
can't remember the name right now and i am at work...

i have a queation though about ms. lord and daniel that i asked elsewhere but will take the answer to anywhere i can get it...
is that her on the target commercial doing speeding motorcycle and if not who is it?
it sounds liek her voice but it definitely is not the version on the record i have...
that is greta record of hers though...
she does some great covers by the boss, daniel, the pogues, sahwn colvin, big star, richardthompson, bob dylan, magnetic fields etc... just wish i could remember.... oh damn i remember now...it's called "live city sounds"... but again that is not her version on the target commercial or if it is she went into a studio to do it over...

sorry if this has been asked before...
but is that mary lou lord singing speeding motorcycle???
i have a recorded version of her doing it but it was from her recording that she did of playing live on the streets and that is definitley NOT that version that is in the target commercial...

i saw an interview with daniel where he was sort of alluding to that being her but i was never sure... it sort of sounds like her and i knew you guys would know... so i am asking... embarassed
4  General Discussion / Fan Forums / daniel johnston movie??? on: January 25, 2005, 02:54:17 PM
i think it is really great that daniel's family helped so much in the making of this film... they are to be commended for allowing the whole process to take place... thanks johnson family... history its self will show how much help you have given mankind for letting us into daniel's world and art(thanks to daniel too for everything of course)
i think it is a huge step foward as well for the way people with metal illnesses are to be looked at and treated in this country... a lot of families would try to hide the whole thing but you guys showed ton's of courage and caring... again thanks ain't enough but thanks a lot anyway!!! Cheesy

i have seen yo la tengo five times now(i think)and at every encore(or even when they just stop between songs at times) people went absolutely ape **** screaming for "speeding motorcycle"...
they played it once... which was really cool...
but then ira once(i think at the old toy tiger in louisville ky-it's gone now)said that they were not doing that song any more and to pick something else...
he seemed sort or annoyed about it and said that they get more requests for that than anything else...
so they did "paul is dead"...
which i am sure daniel would have loved for the beatle reference alone...
glad to see they are playing after daniel @ sundance...
wish i could be there when they play together like i bet they do...
oh well...
i also bet it is a crowded mess...
like in that episode of south park

i think if "jandek on corwood" got released on DVD then of course this film eventually will be...
daniel is ton's more accessable(imho ton's and tons and tons of tons... more likable to the general populace as well)
so they(daniel's film producers) are probably more likely to get a distributer for it to be shown in theaters which jandek on coorwood was unable to do and it went straight to dvd after playing a number of film festivals(it was a damn interesting film as well even if you are not really into the whole atonal jandek thing and even though they never really reveal anything real about jandek beyond the mythology that people have bulit up around him with little input from him or it or whatever jandek really is)...
