6  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Going through a break up on: November 23, 2009, 11:54:43 AM
So ive recently broken up with my ex girl friend. and like everyone who really thought she was the one and imagined their whole life with a person when it turns out it doesnt work, ive been pretty down

I soon found out that the music i was listening to I couldnt relate to anymore. and i really needed something to give me a little hope (but not to be so happy-go-lucky as to ignore the hardships in life).

and then i suddenly remembered Daniel Johnston. and listened to "Hey Joe" and "True love will find you in the end"

its blows my mind how pure and unfiltered and real Daniels lyrics are. He really is worthy of the title "legend"

no one else has ever done what daniel has done with song.

So i just thought i would tell my appreciation for his poetry and help in the forum (i havent logged on in a while)

and if you guys have any other songs you suggest i listen to im ALL ears.

Hey Jude, come on, Joe
Don't make that sad song
Any sadder than it already is

Hey Jack, get back
Get yourself together
Come on, come on

I know you’re thinking of your nervous love
I know exactly what you're thinking of

Hey Sid, no matter what you did
It can work out, work out
No matter how you feel right now

Hey George, do your chores
Don't feel sore
I know it's a lot more than just being poor

There's a heaven and there's a star for you
There's a heaven and there's a star for you
There's a heaven and there's a star for you

8  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Any Piano Music Sheet? on: June 02, 2009, 08:11:39 PM
Im not nearly as good at piano as Daniel...

But i would love to try and get my hands on some music sheets for the piano that have the notes for his songs.

In particular I wish i could learn how to play "My Yoke Is Heavy"

So im wondering if anyone has bothered with the process of trying to actually write the piano music sheets, or if there are any photocopied vesions of the ones Daniel plays from.

?

Thanks
9  General Discussion / Biographical Forum / The Death of Captain America on: May 18, 2009, 11:47:53 PM
so it suddenly hit me as i was watching a video of Daniel playing a song in a comic book store, while wearing a captain america shirt...

Has daniel had any opinions or words on the recent death of captain america?

For those of you who dont know, Captain American has, in the Marvel Comic books series, officially been killed off... the beloved comic book character will no longer be included in the new marvel series after the "marvel civil wars".

Im kind of a comic book nerd myself, and i was rather shocked by Marvels decision to cut out captain america...

But my question is really about what Daniel thinks.
I know he uses captain america alot in his works. especially alot in his art work. Has he said anything about it???  huh

Well i was actually REALLY REALLY surprised when i was watching the movie "kids" and they played daniel johnstons "casper the friendly ghost"

The movie... made me feel awkward.
and the song is amazing... but they played it at a scene where people where beating the crap out of this kid...soooo

yeah. haha
12  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Re: Daniel's Best Song? on: May 18, 2009, 11:40:08 PM
I think his top three "RadioSongs" (as in the ones most popularly listened to) are...

Casper the Friendly Ghost
Speeding Motorcycle
The Story of an Artist

or atleast those are those ones most of my peers like... The story of an artist blows my mind every time. you should check it out.

you would be amazed though at how awesome some of his lesser known songs are. I just ordered the tape "Dont be scared" and i cant wait. I bought it just for the song "my yoke is heavy" which is on youtube if you search it.
13  General Discussion / News Talk / Re: Hi how are you tee at Urban outfitters on: May 18, 2009, 11:36:35 PM
I like urban outfitters (for the most part).

They probably have the shirt for sale now because of Kurt Cobains marketing caught on.
or atleast thats the motivation i see for them doing it.... they are just "hip" enough to revive old grunge stuff like that.

I dont think it deserves a side face though...
Im sure Daniel and his family are getting paid some decent amount from its production.

speaking of which... its embarrassing... but i still dont own one of these shirts myself

15  General Discussion / Biographical Forum / Re: Drug Use on: March 18, 2009, 07:33:02 PM
Isn't there a scene in his movie wherein he is shown, in present day, smoking pot?

Im pretty sure the scene your talking about is young daniel. smoking a bong. I agree with everyone else that current day daniel doesnt do that kind of stuff anymore.

And about Drug use leading to mental-instability.... i heard from alot of people (though ive actually never done the research for myselg) that if you use acid over 3 times your considered legally insane in certain states.
