Ahhh hello Breathin Slow and welcome. Lucky fellow, new to Daniel's music and tickets for a show.
I'm jealous.
Let me guess... you have tickets for the Chicago show. No, It's Cleveland isn't it? Do you still have snow on the ground?

Welcome 08. I know the excitment you feel. It's not a show I've seen, Friday Night Lights (the TV series) but I have heard about Devil Town being played on it. Friends of mine are sure to let me know if they run across anything. It's so nice to run across others new to Daniel's music. We should go stand in a corner and say Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston. It helps. Where are you from?

*waves* @ D
Doesn't it make you wonder what the common thread is that runs through Daniel Fans? Dad and daughters, it could be that "what does dad know!" business.
And maybe it's slowing down long enough to pay attention. I've always liked listening to the college radio station while some of my friends just want the old familiar songs that are in the top of the charts. Some people want background music that they can talk over, sing along when it comes to the chorus and don't want to take the time to explore something new music wise.
Maybe it's something magical.

OMG! I am waiting for him to come to MPLS! The closest spot I've seen is a show scheduled for Chicago in May.
Thanks for the welcome. Come sit in this corner with me and we can send MPLS VIBES together to Texas.
I almost forgot *thumbs up* for the information on the L.A. Amoeba/Spaceland visit. Lucky Zach gettin' in on that!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, another voice heard from. I replied to your Sonic Burger thread, but I'm trying not to let the manic-me show too much.
It's nice to be able to talk to Daniel Fans, and friends, I've not found any in my daily routine...tho I did get a page from a magazine mailed to me. (from someone that knows I'm a fan) It was written by Jeremiah Griffey, a review of a meeting with Daniel before an in-store appearance at L.A.'s Amoeba Records.
I googled to see if I could find it on line but did not find it. I'm sure everyone here is so in-the-know that you've already seen it.
I'm going now, to stand in the corner and say Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston.
Does anyone know when Daniel did the in-store appearance at L.A.'s Amoeba Records? It was after the film came out but there is no date or even any indication as to what publication this page came out of. I'm sure it was a free Magazine.
It's just fun to run across something that I've not see before written up on Daniel.
*back to my corner*

...pleased to meet you Henry Long.
Is your signature your own quote? "Although there's a darkness, love balances chaos."-HL It is multi-layered and beautiful.
i don't believe my daughter was a Daniel Johnston fan before the showing of the film. With my child I really don't know, she has a different style to her music listening. Where when I get something new I will play it over and over and over until I am anticipating the next next song on the CD, she wil listen once or twice and tuck the music away to assure she will not tire of it.
TDaDJ never did come to a theatre near me, I had to wait for it to come out on DVD, that day, it was in my mail box from Netflix. The film was a wonderful vehicle to reach people that otherwise wouldn't have found their way. Me, me, me.
BTW: I am a good customer of Daniel Johnston's web store and purchased two copies of the DVD, one to keep and one to share. I purchased "the book of Daniel" as I like to call it And, if at all possible order my CDs from there also.

Thanks so much wickedwill for posting the photos of Daniel and sharing your day with us. It's such an up close and personal look at his life. I'm sure it has to be hard to share, when you find someone as special as Daniel i can see you might want to keep him all to yourself.
What I'm trying to say is I do appreciate that you realized his fans would love to see these. It's nice to know that Daniel's house is finished and he's settled in.
Cute kiddos too.

Thanks for the welcome. You should get a prize for being the 25th viewer of this thread.
It was "Welcome to my World" That she had.
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Your Grievances and Speeding Motorcycle were the two songs that stuck in my head. Those were the two that kept running through my mind until I could get my own music.
Speeding Motorcycle was so familiar to me I was sure I remembered it from a Target commercial, I just knew I had heard it before. I don't know but that's maybe how Daniel's work gets under your skin. You hear it, and by the second time you listen to it, it becomes part of you. There is something so different and unique that you either get it or you snicker and move on.
Are your kids fans of Daniel too?

I'm new, I'm a true fan.
Daniel Johnston was introduce to me by my daughter one day with a phone call. She said "write this down...The Devil and Daniel Johnston" then went on to say she had just seen the film and I would want to see it. That note sat on my desk for three months before I heard his voice for the first time. We were driving along the Oregon coast, I flipped through her CDs and ran across Daniel Johnston, poped it in and was at the edge of my seat. We listened to that CD twice and I can't believe we came home without one. We did come home singing Daniel's songs. Once at home I couldn't wait to get my own CDs. wOw. I'm hooked.
So... I'm new, please be nice to me. :p
