All hail to the thief! All hail to the thief Who took that post away! Maybe not! Maybe not!
But....
2 + 2 = 5.
It really DOES if BIG BROTHER says it does! Or GAWD. Same difference.... wow. that ruins my memories of several good things at once.

dan is not a millionaire... and even if dan had millions, he would still be considered an outsider...
now as far as the new generic lable of being an "outside artist" goes, it sounds a lot like people who are always wanting to classify things more than it sounds like someone who is actually refering to danny's music.

It's either the albums with Jad Fair, or the Danny and the Nightmares stuff. All of 'em sound like they were knocked off in an hour or two and no one, Daniel included, shows any musical or compositional talent on them.
Coasters.
Doug I would agree with you, Doug, in the sense that the Jad Fair numbers on those albums are probably the LEAST MEMORABLE of all the tracks I've heard on all the DJ albums. However, I think tracks like "first day at work" and "villain" really highlight the reason that the two got together in the first place - the unique "quirkiness" of their musical ideas. I know a lot of people who would castigate me for saying so, but I really can't stand Jad Fair on any of that stuff and I wish that those songs were just Danny, even the two above. I also realize that's what Dan obviously wanted to do on those records, so I don't mind it as an artistic choice... Also, someone mentioned not being able to dig the Hyperjinx Tricycle stuff and I was wondering about the song "tomorrow's child," does it count as a Hyperjinx song; I mean it was with Ron English... I wonder if someone can answer this?

General Discussion / Fan Forums / "Hi How Are You" Mural

I was so happy when I heard they'd changed their minds... but it's weird to read all of the stories about it because everyone seems to have a different idea as to when it was painted... one story said ten years, one said eighteen years and one said twenty even but the thing is I was living in Austin from '88 to '95 and the went to sound exchange (literaly) every weekend and the mural didn't grace the wall until '92 by my memory... not that it matters, it's just humorous to read the varrying accounts. But I am so stoaked to hear they saved it... I totally have a different opinion of those baja fresh guys now... wednesday I was ready to go up there and do something crazy...
my Father and I were talking last night about when Daniel painted that mural and how it became an integral part of the city we lived in and how it was really a dominating presence... when you'd walk out of Dobie mall or off the campus or up from the capital area you'd always see the frog greeting you and I can't imagine the drag without that, especially since it is one of the only things that survived the "big boom" that the drag experienced in the mid and late nineties when all the original shops closed down to make way for the trendy corporate stores. I am very happy that we will still be able to enjoy the frog.

Hey, I have been listening to the record "More Songs of Pain," a lot again and remembered that I always wondered who the preacher (or whatever he is) who is talking on the album is... the guy who does the "...ignoring the prophetic warnings given to them..." and "...the jupiter effect..." sound bites. Anyhow, no big deal, but it would be interesting to know.
