My mom saw this, I didn't catch it.. but she knew I was a Daniel Johnston fan, and told me about it. We had a funny conversation:
Mom: They said he couldn't sing too well or play his instruments too well.
Me: Well.. he's not THAT bad.. but yeah.
Mom: Sooooo.... why do you listen to him?

She just don't know..

My mother finds Johnston interesting. She was asking me about the film, who takes care of him, if he's actually "famous" or not. I don't think she believes me when I tell her that he actually IS famous. She says he likes the way he sings. We were talking about how every once in a while someone comes along who can't "sing" very well, but still insists on singing. There was a guy by the name of Chalino Sanchez that popularized the "Narco-Corrido" (a somewhat, Drug Ballad) that could NOT sing. But his style was greatness. What a nice day off. The movie made my week.
