I recently hired a artist at my tattoo studio who I just found out was the grandson of the poor lady that jumped out the window running away from Daniel as he tried to cast out her "demons"...

I'm sad to say that because of the situation, Daniel will not be played at the shop anymore and I am seriously considering having my Daniel frog tattoo covered up out of respect... for the record the ladies family are STILL quite pissed, I cant help but to wonder how I would feel if it were my Grandmother

It's a real dilemma when a name and details are added to the story..

the lady who has since passed away NEVER recovered from the injury.. and never walked again... After hearing that side of the story I'm kind of curious as to why the incident was seemingly downplayed in the documentary and online..

anyway I am fully aware that Daniel is mentally ill, and am not trying to start a debate on if Daniel is to blame or not, I'm just shocked at how ironic it is that I am a fan and have crossed paths with my new friend/artist (whos name I am leaving out of this because I'm not sure if he wants it to be known here)

for the record this is a good Christian family who suffered a great loss, I am just wondering if Daniel has ever admitted to wrongdoing and at least said he was sorry... it seems in what I've read and seen in the documentary he accepts no responsibility and blames "demons"

I dunno, after learning more about this it seems to me that the Johnstons should do something, if not donate some artwork or some procedes to the ladies family(which they probably wouldn't accept anyway), at least publicly apologize .. just my opinion

Hello all

I am trying to create a set of DANIEL JOHNSTON DVDS/BOOTLEG VIDEO COMPILATIONS
DVDs will be pro authored complete with menus/chapters/background music. I am interested in ANYTHING you have that is not on my list.
If you are kind hearted enough to contribute I will send you a set when the project is complteted, or if
you dont want to wait I would be happy to set up a trade from my list..

I will be sending a copy of the set to Daniel and his family to do with what they wish, and will do my personal best to
see to it that the set is circulated amongst the fans, I'm doing this project as a labor of love and to
spread the "gospel of Daniel Johnston" so any help would be appriciated

I just got a totally uncirculated DANIEL JOHNSTON show on DVD from PITTSBURGH PA, 12/3/01

the video runs about 10 minutes and is amazing, the way the lights were shining on Daniel he almost looks like CASPER it's weird

I know this isn't exactly about DJ, but I thought these DVDs would interest some folks in the group...

I just mastered 10 DVDs worth of MTVs 120 MINUTES, complete eposodes
for the most part and and all are from 1987-1989 the hosts are ALAN
HUNTER, DAVE KENDALL, KEVIN SEAL, DOWNTOWN JULIE BROWN and CAROLYNE
HEADMAN  this is the stuff you want, and is NOT in circulation as of
yet. I just got these lost gems from my buddys wife who recorded them
when they were on in the 80s, dvds include original comercials which
are a hoot! THIS IS A REAL FIND!!!

I also have over 90 DVDs worth of USAs NIGHT FLIGHT and am ALWAYS
interested in ANYTHING I dont have..

Weird Paul is the man

I sent him an email and got a response within 15 minutes, I must say that I think Daniel and he are kindred spirits and for the record I still think Weird Paul is brilliant....

There was I guy called WEIRD PAUL PETROSKI (sp?) that used to play in Pittsburgh years ago (late 80s early 90s)  that is INCREDIBLY similar to DJ, His vocals REALLY sounded like DANIEL, he also produced home made cassets and did alot with a home organ, at the time I thought he was brilliant, now I really wonder if he was recycling DJ's style.......

Has anyone else here heard WEIRD PAUL?

I also think early KING MISSILE is similar to DJ in some ways

I am new to this site, and am so glad that I found it

since seeing the AMAZING film DEVIL IN DANIEL JOHNSTON I must say I have become an 100% obsessed fan, I have purchased a ton of his stuff and constantly play his music in my tattoo studio, It's funny how people either "get it" or hate it .... the sign of true greatness, I have yet to see any indifference..

Anyway I have been collecting rare videos for years and my list has a serious blank spot ..... I NEED SOME DANIEL JOHNSTON!!!!
If there are any collectors out there, please check out my list, it's huge, and full of weird and wonderful stuff.... I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT TO TRADE

I'm not interested in copies of official releases as I wouldnt want to cheat Daniel out of his well deserved earnings
