I'm new to this forum so i'm sorry if the topic already exists.....
ok, so what's your fave cover of a Daniel Johnston song? For me my fave would have to be Sparkle horse and the flaming lips 'go' from the discovered covered album, just beautiful stuff. I have done a cover of 'true love will find you in the end' which i think turned out ok.

People will be singing Daniel the way people sing Woodie Guthrie, for generations.
And I like many of the covers that I've heard through the years, but the one's I prefer are those done spontaneously, for their own entertainment, by people who no one has ever heard of before.

i'm not very computer savvy.....it's in that big list of covers on the fansite. 

when i first heard 'sorry entertainer', straight away i thought i could imagine nirvana doing a cover of it especially seeing as though kurt was a big fan of dan....

...well in the covers list,  check out the cover of sorry entertainer by a band called Ed the Tractor! it's just how i imagined it sounding....not that it's nirvana but they have a similar sound. check it out it's actually pretty good!

I don't think that my favorite Daniel Johnston cover will ever change.  It's "Some Things Last A Long Time" by Built to Spill. 

Dan's music had bounced around and narrowly avoided me for years, I think.  When I heard The Normal Years it was my favorite song on the album.  I knew it was a cover, but could never remember by who.  When I discovered Daniel, to the point where I knew who he was as an artist and knew when I heard his music, I still hadn't connected the dots.  So, when I did, everything made sense and I still credit that Doug Martsch as providing that first real introduction to Dan's music.  For that reason alone, it's a hard one to beat for me.

i love singing dan's songs & am incorporating some into my repertoire.
people love 'em!  plan to do a couple at a certain festival soon, in the hills
of western maryland.

My fav cover is by Johnny Depp's band, "P". They cover Cigarette Girl. My sister is Cigarette Girl.....and we love the cover!
