Title: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on July 21, 2007, 06:07:25 AM Just to remind you/inform those who may not be aware, Adjustable Productions have opened up a mailing list to keep everyone updated with what is happening with the proposed film of the 12th July Union Chapel concert.
You can get on that list by emailing DJ@adjustableproductions.com. It would be useful to us in the preparation of our marketing campaign if you could provide us with: 1, Your name 2, Your country of residence 3, Your age 4, The number of official Daniel releases you own 5, And finally whether or not you attended the featured gig, or any other Daniel Johnston gig in the past. All information provided treated with respect to the Data Protection Act and no personal information will be passed to third parties. I will be reading each email personally, so if there are any suggestions you wish to make or questions you wish to ask, then go for it. Thanks, Rob Wheeler Managing Director Adjustable Productions Ltd. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on July 22, 2007, 04:55:19 PM Audio to video sync is now complete. Editing is scheduled to start next week folks. With any luck this is not going to be one of those Daniel Johnston projects that take forever and a day to come out... :)

Editing has commenced, and Daniel should be viewing our first draft edit of a song very soon. We have made a lot of progress since the shoot. Things look good. Rob, Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on August 08, 2007, 10:08:40 AM Is "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" going to be removed from the DVD
due to copyright or royalty reasons? It is a Beatles song and those things don't come cheap. -Terran Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on August 08, 2007, 11:09:52 AM Good question. An answer is not forthcoming at this moment.
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on August 13, 2007, 01:36:11 PM Hi Guys,
We completed the third (and a mammoth) editing session today. It seems to be coming together really well. Still a lot work to do in the edit, but we are more or less on time for our own internal schedule. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be going into the studio to prepare the final stereo mix with the sound engineer. Not long after that, we should be booking time to complete a 5.1 surround sound mix. Thanks to everyone who has messaged us to get onto the contact list and who has offered support so far. It is very much appreciated. We have been really impressed by the level of interest and are very excited with the potential to work alongside Daniel and his Management to produce a product that will really do justice to a magical performance, and is deserving of his many and diverse fan's. Cheers! Rob Wheeler Adjustable Productions Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on August 15, 2007, 03:35:55 AM any chance of a short preview within the next couple of months? :-D

Rob, Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on August 16, 2007, 12:00:30 PM Today we worked on Mean Girls, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Silly Love and Grievances. Rob, Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Henry Long on August 21, 2007, 07:24:47 AM Do you realize how much Excellent Karma you're building up by doing this project?!

I had my first day off for a while to go to a wedding yesterday, and I think I'll be taking the rest of the holiday weekend off so we can review next week with some perspective. I've got to have a chat with Dick about a few things, but hopefully we can bring some news in the very near future.

Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on September 05, 2007, 03:51:42 PM Rob, you and your team are so cool for doing this. Can't wait!!
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on September 06, 2007, 12:10:20 PM 'm not a big fan of surround recordings, but I asked the engineer to make provisions for such a recording as I thought the venue had such a lovely reverb it would be really good. Well, I've just racked up the tapes and figured out how to mix in surround and i've got to say, if you could hear this, you probably wet yourself. I can't imagine there exists many better recordings of Daniel at any stage in his career. I'm not taking any credit for that, it is entirely down to the fantastic engineering team we had on board.
I almost wish you could all cram into my studio and hear what I am hearing. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: mahoney on September 11, 2007, 12:56:07 PM I can't wait for this.
I've been to many gigs in my life but that night was one of the most special nights of my life, I absolutely can't wait to see this. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on September 11, 2007, 03:23:06 PM I definitely think we captured the right gig. I didn't see any of the other gigs on the tour, but the feedback I am getting was that it was the best of the bunch.
We will keep our noses to the grindstone and hopefully we will get something to you guys soon. I'd love to get a preview up sometime in the very near future. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: OhJoy on September 11, 2007, 08:21:05 PM OhPlease do!
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on September 12, 2007, 09:10:57 AM Awesome. By the way, since everyone is commenting on the amazing quality
of sound this venue offered along with Daniel's stellar performance, I would think that this would also make a really great live album. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Steven on September 15, 2007, 11:23:42 AM I played drums at this show. Can't wait to see how it came out, had a great time.
Oh, and Rob in relation to what you said about it being the first time you've seen a drummer without toms... basically, i do have a rack and floor tom but it really wasn't practical for me to take all of it on the whole tour. :) The sound guys were really great as you said, all 3 of them were super nice and very good at thier jobs. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on September 15, 2007, 04:27:48 PM Hi Steve,
I suspected there may have been a transport related drum amputation. I think it probably worked better without them. Plus we were worried about micing toms :) You can trust that an Adjustable Production employs only the very best staff, who are are the epitome of politeness. We will do our best to get you immortalised in media! :) Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on September 20, 2007, 01:00:43 PM Just thought I'd update to say I was present for the start of mixing the stereo masters earlier this week. Today we were working on the title sequence and other elements of post production. Working around the clock at the minute.
Much tiredness and need for dental work. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: mahoney on September 26, 2007, 01:23:32 PM I've never been so excited about a music dvd in my life, really going to be something special, keep up the good work, it'll all be worth it when its finally released in all its glory.
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: OhJoy on November 02, 2007, 07:34:05 AM Is there anything new to report on this project?
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: rab on November 03, 2007, 10:30:13 AM wow, what a nice surprise! this night was absolutely perfect, and to find out it's being released is really great. it was an incredible location and daniel was on top form. can't wait to see this. except we were sat in the front row, i hope our mugs don't ruin it! Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: mahoney on November 09, 2007, 09:00:33 AM any updates on the progress of this?
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: OhJoy on December 05, 2007, 10:32:54 PM I wanted to put this on my wishlist for the holiday.
What's happening with the project Rob? Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on December 17, 2007, 08:26:55 AM Hi guys,
The film is finished. It will probably take a little work to get it out to you guys. Sorry we couldn't have it for you in time for Xmas, but that was probably never a realistic idea. Rob, Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on December 17, 2007, 09:45:23 PM really great news.
so how 'bout that preview? (no rush! :-D) any other information at the moment- final tracklist or special features? great to hear from you again and thanks! Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: mahoney on December 18, 2007, 04:21:31 PM any chance of a sneaky clip up on youtube?
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: notdaniel on December 19, 2007, 10:55:41 AM Good question. An answer is not forthcoming at this moment. There's a big difference between using a Beatles cover and the actual original Fabs version, as you may have noticed from movies and commercials. That's not to say it's guaranteed to be problem-free, and for the record, I am not a lawyer... - notdan Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on January 15, 2008, 12:42:38 PM I so can not wait for this. Daniel's on stage performances are so unbelievable. He blew me away last time I saw him. Now I'm going to see him when he comes to Wisconsin
and I can't wait! I know this DVD is going to be great not only because of Daniel's amazing songs being played live for people who love them but because of his genius in writing new songs that we love instantly as if we always knew them. That is why I'm looking forward to seeing him live and getting this DVD, the new songs that we don't have. PS- Daniel, my brother wants you to play Funeral Home when you play in Milwaukee and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: xbabytwinx on January 27, 2008, 12:36:12 PM C'mon Robbie whats the score with this project,is it ever going to come out?
I was listening to my dictaphone recording of the show on my ipod last night, and am really desperate for this release. It would be nice to know whats happening Mr.Cave www.myspace.com/babytwinforeva Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: stogeyrovers on February 29, 2008, 09:52:40 AM Any news on the Union Chapel DVD? Seems to have gone a bit quiet of late.
Thanks, TOM Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on March 03, 2008, 11:20:37 AM Hi guys. Have faith. It always takes a little while for these things to come to fruition.
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on March 03, 2008, 09:03:11 PM "IT'S ALIVE!!!"
Good to hear things are still moving along with this project, thank you and keep up the hard work! I'm sure the result will be deeply loved by everyone here. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: xbabytwinx on April 14, 2008, 08:42:30 AM I dont think this release will happen now, such a shame, been looking forward to it for ages.
Joseph www.myspace.com/babytwinforeva Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on April 15, 2008, 05:13:24 AM Why do you say that? I know you have no factual basis to reach that conclusion.
There is quite a lot involved in making a film of any sort. This has been our main project for the last 10 months. We would not just shoot a concert and slap it onto a DVD and issue it in any old slapdash fashion. Our production values would not permit that. Brian Wilson spent six months just recording Good Vibrations. There was a reason for that! Hang tight guys. Rome was not built in a day. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: OhJoy on April 15, 2008, 04:49:47 PM thumbs up Rob, thanks for the reply.
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on May 14, 2008, 06:57:28 PM Hi Rob, any updates?
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: notdaniel on May 15, 2008, 02:56:51 AM Brian Wilson spent six months just recording Good Vibrations. There was a reason for that! Do you need some of us to come by and toss Mike Love out? - notdan Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Rob Wheeler on May 28, 2008, 10:47:11 AM Oh, my original reply seems to have disappeared. Maybe it got lost in a resoted backup?
Anyway, I'll just reiterate, we have been having a great time with this project, and the reason it took Good Vibrations months to come out was because Brian Wilson worked and worked and worked to make it the perfect brilliant work it is. The film we have been working on is the Pet Sounds of concert films. So you should look forward to it. And make sure everybody else looks forward to it... Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: xbabytwinx on June 06, 2008, 10:30:54 AM Oh someone has deleted my message how very suspicious,I think the message board mafia is in force, anyway here goes again.
Come on Rob, you know the long winded email you sent to me about how this has been a struggle to produce/finance and how it may never see the light of day, do you also remember jumping on the defensive weeks after the show, when I innocently posted that I had, as a fan, recorded the concert on a Dictaphone and how you told me not to let it out to anybody, which I may add I have not done, was that for the good of getting a stunning performance of Daniel out to his many followers or just because you saw the £ signs slipping away. My last 1 line post was merely an incentive for you to get a move on and to round up more enthusiasm for a project that has been silent, and may have slipped people’s minds. One other thing I do hope that this visual feast arrives to us before Christmas and is as you say the pet sounds of concert films, however I think we would have been just as pleased with a yip/jump equivalent of a concert film, it may have some rough edges and may not be perfect, but hey isn’t that the reason we all love Dan so much Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: rab on June 22, 2008, 03:42:45 PM glad to see this is still going ahead. any kind of word on progress rob? how far along is the project? vague dates? hope it's going well Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: Green Monkey on July 20, 2008, 06:25:19 AM Rob?
Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: weebobby on July 26, 2008, 06:51:47 PM Hello everyone,
Here's a little something to keep you going. . . http://teawithtufty.blogspot.com/ I hope you like it ; ) Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: gummomarx on July 27, 2008, 10:53:04 AM Dear Wee Boobie,
I was at Glasgow and Manchester. I am overjoyed that you have posted this - you are so kind. I am downloading the torrent now. THANK YOU. This was my 4th and 5th time seeing Danny and I also met him for the second time which was an amazing experience. Danny was so nice and friendly to us in a way which really touched me. Also thanks for the inclusion of Danny singing 'Most Beautiful Widow' - what a great suprise that was when he walked out smiling to join in. :-D Also Jad Fair's set was nothing short of quite possibly the single greatest performance by anyone I've ever seen. The whole show was perfect. So thanks again Wee Bobbie - If you have Jad's set and the rest of the show, I would love to hear that again. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: haint on July 29, 2008, 08:17:59 AM Many thanks for this! :-D
Would love the rest of Mark's set in particular if you have it... And gummomarx, watch out for my full Manchester recording at DIME in the next few days  Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: gummomarx on July 29, 2008, 09:00:26 AM Haint, I think I love you.
Were you on the front row, holding a recording device very carefully? If it was I was right next to you on your right. I tried to keep quiet, so I wouldn't ruin your recording and was thinking 'I hope this guy puts this on dime' If this wasn't you, forget what I just said. Can't wait to hear your recording. Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: haint on July 29, 2008, 11:45:51 AM Yes that was me! :-D
Recording came out great! Should get it up Thurs evening... Title: Re: Union Chapel Concert Film Info Post by: haint on August 01, 2008, 03:17:02 PM Manchester recording:
