I bought these two Daniel albums this week - amazing stuff. Really strong material, especially on the new album; great production too. Classic tracks on Artistic Vice too.

Mine too. A masterpiece.

The lyrics are wonderful ("Let it be said when I am dead I killed the Monster") and that whole 2nd part of the song ("I did it! I did it! Yeah!") is beautiful right up to the fade.

It doesn't get much better than that.

Mine too. A masterpiece.

I've always thought of the band on this album as Daniel's "Crazy Horse".

Actually, let's give Crazy Horse a call, see what they're doing while Neil is into other ventures. Maybe they'd like to back Danny for a couple gigs! I can hear it now in my head...(Rock 'n Roll EGA)

It's great that you like "Artistic Vice" E-A-L. It was an album that was recorded with Danny's good friends. It may not be "professional", but it was from the heart.

This rings true through every note, my friend.

Hey guys... great to hear the topic of Artistic Vice.. I never heard much about the Eye Band (located in W. VA I think) altho they were such a force behind Dan on the album.

Also great to hear some of the Danny and the Nightmares tracks; same sort of formula that follows Dan's style and uncomplicated.

One song on 1990 had me confused though; it was the last track "Softly and Tenderly" where it seems Dan is at church starting off the song....  I guess it was recorded on one of the Sundays with him and his folks attending with him.

Seems so good to hear backup musicians/friends play along; daniel I'm sure has all the backup in his mind and carried so many tunes alone very well; but it's like he made such a strong core that could be endlessly accompanied by other musicians.

Great to be now on the site  grin

One more thing... after seeing the Devil and Daniel documentary I saw some clips of sessions that really sounded good; the one I wish I knew how to find was the session where either Maureen tucker or steve shelley was playing drums and he did an impromptu jam playing piano very well

I'm sure there are endless session tapes out there....
