Hi, i've been trying to figure out the piano to my two favorite songs from 1990 forever now and have gotten nowhere, do you think you could do piano tabs for Held the Hand and Lord Give Me Hope. I'd love you forever!

Held The Hand

Daniel plays fifths in the left hand and root position chords in the right hand, except for the short C-F interlude between verses where he plays single notes in the bass.  Left hand bass notes are in parentheses.

Here’s the notes in his chord voicings listed from low to high in the left and right hand :
G:  left: g and d; right: g, b, d
Bm: left: b and f#; right: b, d, f#
Em: left: e and b; right: e, g, b
C: left: c and g; right: c, e, g
Am: left: a and e; right: a, c, e
F: left: f; right: c, f, a

Held The Hand

G    Bm   Em  (bass: e - d )
Oh my lord
C  Em    Am  (bass: a - b)
I am so bored
C              G    Bm  Em  (bass: e – d)
Held the hand of Satan

C (bass: d - e)  F (bass: e - d) C  (bass: d - e) F (bass: e – d)

(same chords each verse)
Oh Laura
What has happened to you?
Held the hand of the devil

I was on MTV
Everybody was looking at me
Held the hand of the devil

Ending chordsC  Bm  G  Am  Em  (repeat)

Hi, i've been trying to figure out the piano to my two favorite songs from 1990 forever now and have gotten nowhere, do you think you could do piano tabs for Held the Hand and Lord Give Me Hope. I'd love you forever!

F: left: f;   right: f, a, c  (this is the F on the word “road”, it is in a
lower octave than the previous one)
Fm: left: f;   right: f, Ab, c
C: left: c;   right: e, g, c (this is the C on the word “upon”, also in a
lower octave than the first one)
Dm: left: d;   right: a, d, f
G7: left: g;   right: b, d, f

Loud piano interlude:
C: left: c,c (octaves);   right: e,g,c

For the road I walk upon
      C       F       C
The road, it is long
Dm  G7  C
And   I   fear

Same chords every verse – there are a lot of them.  I didn’t post all of the words but they're easy to pick out.

Loud piano interlude: C      F#m   (3 times)

Does anyone know the tab for Polka Dot Rag from The What of Whom? I really really want to play this song, it's my favorite by him, but I'm having trouble deciphering some of the chords. Any help is appreciated.

oh i agree completely.  daniel's versions are always better than the covers in my opinion.  but the songs deserve to be covered and need to be covered.  daniel will make a lot more money that way, and it spreads his music more widely.

@billybob

your'e right ...i really hope that somebody covers a DJ Song and it makes a Nr.1....and so DJ. will earn a lot of money!

I also play a lot of Daniels songs on guitar....it's really great..because i'm a beginner(playing guitar one year now) and most of Daniels Song have really easy chords..so i can play a lot of his song...such a fun!!!

Peace and True Love!

Hello – this is what im hearing on the beginning for polka dot rag:

Bass:

A………D – A#...... / A………D – A#......   F..E..A,E,C,A,C,E

Treble:
A                           /A
C                           /C
E                           /E
    D,C    A, A, A, A /   D,C A, A, A, A – A/Ab..A
              D, D, D, D/         D, D, D,D – C/B….C

This is the beginning. The treble part goes up one octave along the way somewhere in there. I really like this song too – been kind of looking at it. I’m kind of a beginner at the piano hope you can kind of get where im going with it. This takes you up to the chorus. Please forgive the punctuation marks as a sad attempt at measurements and articulations.

Chorus

Bass:

C         A           F          G

Treble:

   C C      A A        F F       G G     THIS PART x4
   E E      C C        A A       B B

Bass:                  C~~~~
C        A               F#~~~

Treble:

    C C      A A       C~~~~
    E E      C C       F#~~~

This is very bare bones and just the basic notes; no note for note - that’s for sure :^>

Hi all! I have 2 l'il guys at home who want to perform "Casper the Friendly Ghost" from Yip/Jump for their 3rd grade talent show. One is singing and the other is playing the piano. We've got the singing part down, but using these chords isn't working out: http://www.azchords.com/d/danieljohnston-tabs-22913/casperthefriendlyghost-tabs-213554.html. It's hard to explain, but it just doesn't sound right.

From what I've read, maybe we're looking for another version than one we have. Does anyone know of another version? Could it be that we need it in another key? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Missy Smiley
