Hi all,

So apart from the following are there any other 7" singles which include covers of Dan's songs?

3X Little Teddy Tribute Singles
Rhythm Rats - Broken Dreams
Lucky Sperms - Walking The Cow
Spectrum - True Love Will Find You In The End
Teenage Fanclub/Jad Fair -  Like A Monkey In A Zoo/Happy Soul (Still Unreleased!)

I've been trying to find info on Osaka Popstar (members of Ramones, Misfits, Black Flag, RH & Voidoids) aside from what was posted awhile back on the rejectedunknown.com site. (And from vague memory of them being the disappointing live act at local punk club Emo's that would only show up with one or two out of the four or five greats they claimed to have in the band at the time) I've found a little stuff like this:

As a preview, the Osaka Popstar track "Wicked World" appeared earlier this year on Rykodisc's two-disc "Twentieth Anniversary" compilation. A clip of the track can also be found at the band's still-in-development official Web site. [www.osakapopstar.com]

The  clip is great, if you haven't heard it! It SHOULD end up as a 7" single, whether it does or not!

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...

I'll take your word for it. All I know is that not too long ago, there was a "revue" show going around claiming to include members of the Ramones, Misfits, etc., and performing the "hits" of all the bands mentioned above. When they came through Austin, the club people that booked them claimed that they had only, like, one member of one band, and the club felt like suing them for misrepresentation.

Whoever they were, or claimed to be at least, it seems like a very similar conglomeration to Osaka Popstar, so I figured there was probably at least some overlap - it sounds like O.P. is basically the previous project done right!

(An aside: On my first trip to L.A., back around 1990 I guess, I got to see the Drunkfux, a "supergroup" featuring Richie Ramone, Steve Stevens, Slash, and members of a local SoCal funk band. They did pretty much nothing but Rolling Stones and AC/DC covers. It'd be cool to hear that combo doing Ruby Tuesday with Daniel and Jad as guest performers!)
