Ok, I bought this recently to add to my Daniel Johnston collection and I can't find any info on any internet discographys about it.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone wants to share what they know about this record.á It says 1989 Homestead Records/ Dutch East India Trading on it. It's factory sealed, but the vinyl records might be a color like red instead of black.á Anyone know anything?

I don't THINK there were any colored vinyl editions of the Homestead LP issues. I also assume your reference to 1980 is a typo or something, since Daniel didn't even record the music involved until 1983. Basically, it's the classic cassette reissued as a record album (well, two, actually).

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...

First off, that's 1989 Homestead Records.á Dutch East was merely the manufacturer and distributor, not the actual label.á There was no red color to the best of my knowledge.á Almost all copies were on double black vinyl, but an extremely low run (200 copies?) were pressed on colored vinyl -- LP 1 is on a medium/dark tan brown marblized vinyl and LP 2 is on a light tan brown marblized vinyl.

[Just so you know, I used to work for Dutch East and I bought a warehouse find of these from them when they went out of business.á If you bought it from me on eBay (user: seele-brennt) then the box SEEMS to have been all coloured vinyl, but I can't be sure as they are still sealed.]

I got my copy of the 2 LP set in the mail today, and it was the colored vinyl version. So I was just wondering how many copies of this were printed up all together (colored and non) and if there was ever a reprint.á The guy I bought it from had it listed as being circa 1993 instead of 1983, even though it was put on vinyl in 1989, so basically I'm really confused right now. About how much is it worth?
