Yeah, that's a hard one to call.

This album is supposed to be "reaching" a much larger audience - the reaction to a cover is hard to judge.

I agree that the "homemade cassette" images that we have all grown to love seem to carry some of the innocence and genuiness that characterizes the music.

OH - Yeah !   There IS an ART BOOK in the making - possibly a "short series" of them.   The number of pieces out there is actually pretty overwhelming.   It's like he never really stopped!   And all his old friends typically kept what he gave them.

But I understand that the publication of an art book might be timed well to follow the expanded interests that comes from the upcoming film.

That film is supposed to air in January 2005.   Maybe by May or June we'll actually see something!

So - what would you like to see in an ART BOOK of Daniels?

There is an art book being published in Italy late this year - a compilation of many artists - Daniel will have 4 to 8 pages in it.

excellent, but daniel needs his own book. a big, huge book...like 250 pages... it could be like old stuff, middle stuff, new stuff and then a section where daniel picks some stuff and maybe writes a little something  if he feels like it. maybe the book could come with a cd where daniel  picks out his favorite tracks of all time? i dunno.

I understand that a book or a short series of books is planned for 2005 - hopefully in response to demand created by the feature-length film.

I understand that the film will show at Sundance Film Festival in January 2005.

If anyone here likes the classic Shel Silverstein books like Where the Sidewalk Ends, Dan has one like that, complete and ready to go, called The Dead Lovers' Twisted Heart. It's all in rhyme and full-page drawings and it's excellent, probably written & drawn in the 80s.

I keep trying to get it copied and sent to potential publishers, but when I go to visit, I can never get cooperation on finding it (hopefully it hasn't permanently disappeared!

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...
