I just gave Daniel a plug at the Metalsludge website. Alot of folks go there. Alot of them are more into Heavy Metal hence the name but alot of them are i diverse and seek something new maybe it will get some folks interested in him. I have gotten a few folks on the forum to check him out with some suprising results.

For anyone who cares heres the link
http://www.metal-sludge.com/main/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=42255#42255

Keep in mind this site is kinda raunchy and alot of spicy language but its all good fun maybe thats why i have such a potty mouth who knows.

Man Its taken the 21st forever to get here.

Great.  This is a perfect example of how we can all take a moment and make a real difference in the benefits to Daniel.

Make mention of it on these message boards, etc.  Evey addition of a link or mention can produce 1 to 1000 curious folks to take a look.  Even a modest campaign of this kind could make a HUGE difference!

Thanks.

The interesting side of the mental health issue, is that the number of people who are experiencing some illness, or are family members of someone or are affected by someone with a problem - is pretty large.   It isn't just the gawkers outside that circle who are intrigued.

Daniel regularly gets invitations to contribute or interview in some publication that is mental health related.

And - as so many things coming from Daniel seem to do - it is a helpful, refreshing, and hopeful thing for these people.   These problems don't stop you from living and your experiences being real and important.   The desire, though, is to be "useful" - to feel purpose and value that comes from what we are able to contribute.

Our contribution to the world will never be measured by what we refrain from doing.   It is a refreshing and and rather NEW IDEA, that this strata of people - simply by seeing the compulsive pursuits of another with similar experiences BEING VALUED - it makes the appreciation of anything they do more credible - to themselves.   And all that offers the prospect of healing and tangible benefits in the quality of life for a lot of people.  The past sterotyps have denied such prospects with the ugly images the past treatment of these "ordinary" human problems .

Straight jackets, sedation, days and months and years idled away without pleasure and personal growth.   It is a hard image to overcome.  It will always have some stigma attached to it, no doubt.    And noone will ever wish it upon themselves

This doesn't suddenly make it all better for everyone.  THere is still a lot of pain and struggle for these folks.

But the VISION of "being appreciated" for our creative selves - it offers some relief from the ominous weight of self-degredation and stagnation of the quality of life that often follows for ANYONE - from those who are "certifiable" - to family members dealing with it - to anyone whose "been suicidal", etc. and are still groping for a foothold on living.

I don't want to over-state all this - only that the attention isn't all bad.

There will always be scoffers and the ignorant, the playground bullies and snobbery of the "entitled" in life.  They make the struggles compounded by mental illness worse than it has to be.

There are often a couple of hecklers at Daniel's concerts.   They find pleasure in what they perceive to be their "advantage" over another.   Their illness is of a different nature, but it's another kind of illness.

Anyway, without droning on too much - every little bit makes a difference.   Thanks.

i've been posting about this tribute ever since i heard of it on my only other message board www.monctonlocals.com (messageboard for the music community in my city) and the only responses i ever got where from people who already new who daniel was, but had no idea a tribute was coming out. or from Beck fans.

Anyway, i'm doing my part! or trying.
