I recorded a cover version to Daniel Johnston's "Lousy Weekend" and want to know if you like it. Because it's very weird.
I am a fan of daniel as everyone could see it in the song "monsters" from my latest album in Comfortstand

I'm afraid I didn't think much of the DJ cover (sorry), but I liked the album tracks I listened to a LOT. On "18 Roses" the vocals sound uncannily like Ray Davies of the Kinks!

I hope you didn't purposely go out of your way to make Lousy Weekend so sloppy - that's not what Daniel's music is about at all! Way too many people, when they do a Daniel cover, actively try to make their voices as thin and faltering as possible, instead of letting their hearts feel the honesty of his words. Vocally, I thought your Lousy Weekend sounded like you didn't really know or care about what the words meant. If English is your second language, I would suggest that you get a translation made, then study the meaning of the song for awhile before going back to the original words.

By contrast, the material on the "Tourists" album is everything that fans of Daniel would be likely to demand from music they enjoy: it's spare and heartfelt, a bit "different" from the mainstream, and seems very hopeful. And yes, Monsters is a hoot, and definitely would fit in well alongside Daniel's sillier numbers (Harley Man, Wicked Will, Spook, etc).

Oh, I really like the name they use on your album's web page to describe the kind of keyboard that you and Daniel are so fluent at: the "baby organ"! (Y'know, I thought they cut those off at birth for sanitary reasons...)

Okay, everybody - I apologize for that last quip!

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...

i am afraid i have to agree with not daniel on this one. i think if it was played for me and i was not told about it being a daniel johnston song i would have absolutely no clue it was a daniel johnston song. but you are right about it being really weird.
