It was austere and minimal and beautiful on 1992's "Frankenstein Love," which is a wonderful collection of songs, by the way.

I know of no other placement, but perhaps Fun's sweetened arrangement with strings seemed familiar in its orchestration. I have found that on some of Daniel's songs, they sound or feel like they've been around forever, or like some old-timer standard resurrected from the dead. Listen to "Running Water," for example. Those chords sound to my ears like something from the 1800's, sung in the fields or the church pews. Amazing.

Speaking of Life in Vain and different places it might have been used, there was a music video made but the link to it on this site is dead. I have never seen the video so if anyone has a link - please post.  grin
