Paintings about television

I went kinda mad at a community acces Tv station after 3 years of being there. I obsessed over it all so much, TV the possabilities and what. I theorised what the best and worst things are about television. Well Because i could not create all that I wanted while there (I almost always made art docos if it was my own project) I had to vent it. I had to make paintings. So through paintings I spent the last two years there working on four paintings about television. http://mikeretter.tripod.com They have gone throgh many different stages. I vented . I hope you can all check them out. I never went  to art school (I quit franticly after two weeks). I dont know really any painters. I just did what I did. TV and painting has kinda fused I even film the paintings when they undergo messy washes of paint in my bathtub. This effects the painting as does the painting effect the filming, casing a winderfull feedback. One of the films I made is on the site I just knocked up today. Please check it out. I am interested because it has an outsider quality to it because of the isolation from the art scene and art institutions. I pushed myself quite hard.

Thanks K1roft. I had these going for a while. One of them was started 2005. I dont have anymore stuff on the net yet. The only other thing is something I already posted here which was Space G  "Fireworks Fly" film clip on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7qgsLUxGi8 This is a guy I know and one of the art docos I tried to make was on him. All the footage was just from the box of tapes I have for the doco. We never shot anything for this particular film clip so I just used available stuff. I hope to make more paint films because most of my paintings have some video of them. Cheers.

I started the Paintings a few years before i saw Videodrome. It was simular experience in a way to Max Rehns. I was consumed by the medium in a different way. I was actually dissapointed by Videorome when I saw it. I expected sooo much because of what I had gone through. I still love the ideas in it and I would love to remake-reinvent it based on myself. I think the ideas in that film are many. I think Cronenbergs best film and possibly my favourite film of all time is CRASH (1996). Thanks for the compliments. These apintings are in exhibition right now at the ABC in Adelaide, Australia. I enjoy other peoples art in this forum and the DJ stuff aswell!

Your work is incredible. Thanks so much for sharing. I grew up in front of a tv, too... Now I refuse to have tv in my house. We only use it for movies these days. "The sun don't shine in your tv..."
