...I thought I'd post this link again for those who may have missed it:

http://middlenamewayne.imeem.com/music/Zl3hEqhO/daniel_johnston_not_daniel_johnston_rock_around_the_christ/

Go there to hear an original improvised tune performed in 1996 by Dan, me, and Ethan A. Dan later simplified the lyrics and added a "McCartney middle bit" to transform this jam into "Rock Around the Christmas Tree" on the "Lost & Found" CD (I see that the US release now has been delayed until February '08!)

If you have any trouble with the above link, try starting here:

http://imeem.com/

You may have to register (it's free) and then do a search on the site for "middlenamewayne". I don't think that IMEEM used to allow downloading, but now it appears that they do, so I guess you can toss this on the ol' Ipod if you wanna. And don't be scared to check out the other tunes on my page -- for instance, the "Lizzard Buggz" are Dan and me with Jerm Pollet (that was not Dan's finest moment in band naming) and again, the lovely tune in question was totally made up on the spot!

LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!!!

UPDATE: Okay, since 'tis the season for giving, I've uploaded another Lizzard Buggz tune, never before heard by anyone outside of a small circle of friends... Check out how effortlessly Daniel came up with this lovely set of lyrics, right off the top of his head!

AND for the first time online, here's my own special holiday music video, entitled "I Kidnapped Santa Claus":

Enjoy!

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...

Hello NotDaniel.

Thanks for posting this - but how do you download?

Wouldn't it be great if rare tracks such as this were available from Yipeyetunes.com - I be there in a flash.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Happy Holidays.

Well, on my screen I clearly see a "download" button right under the song title, which used to not be there on IMEEM. Then again, I can't USE it... but actually I can't even LISTEN to IMEEM right now because something needs updating on my computer. So I'm afraid I can't tell you anything for certain. Maybe that button only appears to the person who posted the song? (That doesn't make sense to ne, but I could be wrong).

Thanks for the reply. I clicked the download button - no joy. So I taped them onto my minidisk instead.

Thanks for these.

Happy Christmas to all.

The date marked on the Lizzard Buggz cassette is Jamuary 9, 2004. Dan, me, and Jerm Pollet recorded a total of 6 cuts, the first two of which were just instrumentals of Dan noodling around at the piano.

Previous to that, there was:

* a visit in or around 2001 during which Dan and me wrote and recorded one song
entitled "Baby, Come Back To Me".

* the Pam Peltz session, which yielded six songs (most notably the enigmatic "Mormon
   Nights"), on 11/20/97.

* the LET IT rootBEer session (aka "Totalley Untrue Stories") on 1/12/96 with Ethan
Azarian, during which we cranked out some 15 or 20 cuts of various length, quality,
   and degrees of completeness.

* the 4-trak session sometime in 1986 or '87, when we made the nice stereo recordings of
"Wicked Will", "Harley Man", and "What the Devil".

Wicked Will is on the IMEEM site as listed above. Here's the direct link: http://middlenamewayne.imeem.com/music/41nwly3c/daniel_johnston_and_not_daniel_johnston_wicked_will_dan_joh/

What the Devil is track #30 on the Halloween CD available online from http://www.oddiooverplay.com/ears/fiends/index.html (also downloadable separately)

Somehow, I don't think I ever managed to post our version of Harley Man anywhere...
