It's either the albums with Jad Fair, or the Danny and the Nightmares stuff. All of 'em sound like they were knocked off in an hour or two and no one, Daniel included, shows any musical or compositional talent on them.

Coasters.

Whatever this is worth, i myself would never include the jad fair collaborations, both of them have some really nice moments, maybe the jad fair parts brings em down them, who knows. smiley

The nightmares are one of my favourites, i am not too keen on that kind of metal music but that rocks hard! Tongue

I would have to say that i never really understand the hyperjinx stuff, it just never appealed to me, maybe a bit too much "art" from the medicine/english side? undecided

Well, I canīt agree...
I think "Itīs Spooky" overwhelms any Jad Fair Album i heard...
I think this album itīs very nice and funny....
The collaborations with Jad fair surfaces Danielīs "humoristique",  "cynical" and "non-sense" side.....

Revisitations of old Danielīs songs also sound different and interesting...

I could never say that Jad Fair "ruined" those albums.....i think it has fit perfectly...

Of course i prefer Daniel Solo...but those albums sounds very nice....

Just my 2 cents...

I would agree with you, Doug, in the sense that the Jad Fair numbers on those albums are probably the LEAST MEMORABLE of all the tracks I've heard on all the DJ albums.  However, I think tracks like "first day at work" and "villain" really highlight the reason that the two got together in the first place - the unique "quirkiness" of their musical ideas.  I know a lot of people who would castigate me for saying so, but I really can't stand Jad Fair on any of that stuff and I wish that those songs were just Danny, even the two above.  I also realize that's what Dan obviously wanted to do on those records, so I don't mind it as an artistic choice...

Also, someone mentioned not being able to dig the Hyperjinx Tricycle stuff and I was wondering about the song "tomorrow's child," does it count as a Hyperjinx song; I mean it was with Ron English... I wonder if someone can answer this?

how can anyone be anti-danny and the nightmares?!  it's phenomenal! all of it! Natzi (i think thats how he spelled it) is one of my favorite daniel songs, i found the .45 buried in a bargain bin somewhere and cherish it like my children (that i don't actually have.... but if i had children, they would be a close second to this record)

That version of "Seasons In The Sun"  was really interesting though.
