Daniel lives outside of Waller, Texas (a small town about 45 miles from Houston) with his parents, and occupies his days at home working diligently (or compulsively) on art and music.

Traumatic struggles with mental health make it necessary for someone to monitor his medication and general health, and for now that means living with his parents.

Daniel toured for over nine weeks in 2003, but does not care to travel.   When traveling he is not much of a tourist, but spends a lot of his time writing even then.

His father is his manager, but recently has had to stop traveling with Daniel in February after being hospitalized following the Japan tour.

Daniel cannot travel alone, and his friend Don Goede has been his road manager and sometimes travels with his brother, Dick.

Daniel does not have a computer, and he does not use the internet.

For these reasons, Daniel is something of an eccentric and recluse.  He is difficult to ge hold of and remains something of a mystery.

He has many friends in the area and plays with in a local band as "Danny and the Nightmares".  He returns to the Austin music scene regularly, and has recorded in Austin several times this year.

Will this recording sessions be used in some release soon?
Is he recording with a band, or alone?
Who´s the "producer" for the sessions?
Is he working with Linkous again? Or Kramer?

wink Is it possible to have him working with the Flaming Lips? wink

Well, this last one persists on my daydreams!

I think the recording in Austin this fall was with Jad Fair and separately with Brian Beatty (of Butt Hole Surfers).

Jad did some things with Daniel in the past including Hyperjinx Tricycle, but these recording sessions were more "fun" than part of a plan to do an album together.

I understand that Brian Beaty (who produced "Rejected Unknown") is producing an album due out next year.   But these recording sessions are not part of that album.

Linkous, Kramer, Flaming Lips.... not just now, anyway.

His name is Brian Beattie and he was a member of Glass Eye and not the Butthole Surfers.

Is Daniel still on Gammon? Seems like they did a pretty bad job with the last one they put out.

Butthole Paul Leary is supposed to be producing the Danny and the Nightmares' 3rd CD, and the Brian Beattie stuff was actually recorded years ago, at the same time as "Rejected/Unknown". I don't know about when the former will be released or by who, but as I understand it, the latter (titled Lost and Found) could be in stores as soon as Gammon Records wants it there.

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...

Well he was born in '61.  So that would make him 44.

Oh by the way he says he born in '61 in "The Beatles."  Just in case you didn't know.
