Crash - Artistic Vice - Fun

Most of my biographical information on Daniel comes from Jeff Feuerzeig's film. The film sort of skips over the period between the night of the plane crash and Artistic Vice. What was going on during that period? How did the Artistic Vice sessions come about? And then, I suppose what happened between Artistic Vice and Fun?

It might just be that no one on the forum is quite sure. People are usually really good about responding to questions if they have something to contribute. Mike West aka "The Dentist" (and bass player on the recording) has posted some great stories about the Artisitic Vice sessions. If you dig through you'll find some of these.

Personally, my own "specialty era" of discussion is the span between the failure of "Fun" and the eventual release of "Rejected/Unknown", a time period which also is largely overlooked in most or all of Daniel's biographical studies. I'll no doubt end up running off at the mouth about that time period here sooner or later.

(I've known Dan since around 1985, actually, but those earlier days tend to be quite a bit more hazy - on Dan's part as well as mine - and as far as recounting adventures from then, I'd probably find myself getting hopelessly confused just as I reached the good parts!)

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...
