No one like Daniel. The outsider thing makes me uneasy, his art is inside of us.

How about John Lennon, his solo stuff had a similar spirit.

Bob Dylan?

Oh, Beat Happening, Jad Fair.
Not as good as Daniel, but worth mentioning I guess.

If you are truly like Dan, you probably won't sound anything like him, personally originality and artistic freedom.

No one like Daniel, man.

Good one. Actually I cannot stand his voice...sounds like Oscar the Grouch after gargling with battery acid. However, he does write some excellent music, and cover versions of his songs generally sound far better than the originals. Same with Dylan, although I at least can stomach Dylan's voice.
