Hello,

I got a copy of High Wire Music's reissue of "Continued Story/Hi How Are You" CD, and there is a big goof on it.  Track 3 is supposed to be "The Dead Dog Laughing in the Cloud," but what plays is "Sorry Entertainer" from the "Yip Jump Music" album.   Anyone else have a copy with this mastering gaff, or am I the lucky one?   I am wondering if all copies are all like this, or just a small batch of them, and if they will have corrected copies you can exchange for?  Any info would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Derrick

I'm listening to the High Wire reissue right now... yep, I got "Sorry Entertainer," too. Needless to say, I was upset. I tried looking for info, but this post is the only reference I've found to the pressing error.

I, too, am trying to figure out what to do with this... whether I should take it back to where I bought it or whether High Wire or Fontana or someone else involved will have a replacement program.

I wonder if Yip/Jump has the same problem, seeing that "Sorry Entertainer" is track 3 on that album...

...I guess this is what I get for waiting until now to get the CD.

Other than the Dead Dog-Sorry Entertainer mess-up (how could this happen?) how does the re-issue compare with the original Homestead release?  Does anyone have both and has played them next to each other?  I almost got it just because I liked the packaging, but then I heard about the error.  You'd think they would check this stuff before pressing thousands of copies.

I ran into the same problem. What a frustrating mistake.  I don't know who to complain to. Are they going to have the resources to recall all the CDs and repress them all over again? This happened to me with some of the Eno re-issues. Bleh! Someone was sleeping on the job!

This was just brought to my attention.   A limited run of these have track 3 from Yip Jump Music replacing track 3 of Continued Story / Hi How Are You.  Instructions for replacing your CD will be posted on www.rejectedunknown.com in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the digitally remastered track 3 can currently be downloaded from RejectedUnknown.com as the mp3 of the week.

how does the re-issue compare with the original Homestead release?  Does anyone have both and has played them next to each other?

I sold my Homestead CDs on eBay a few weeks before the reissues came out, so I didn't have the chance to play them side by side.  But I'm quite pleased with the remastering job on the new CDs, especially Yip/Jump Music.  I've heard this album on every format it has been released on, cassette, LP, and original CD, and the reissue is superior to all of them.  I can hear little nuances and sounds that I never heard before on the previous releases, which were either obscured by tape hiss, pops and clicks, or just weren't brought out by earlier CD mastering technology.  Don't worry, it's still lo-fi stuff, they haven't remixed the music and polished it up to 21st century audio standards.  Rather, I think they've succeeded in producing CDs that match as closely as possible the original source tapes, and these reissues are really how you want to hear these classic albums.  And the inclusion of expanded artwork and complete lyrics is an added bonus.

Is there an estimated number of how many defected CDs got released?

Also, in the booklet under the "Story of Hi, How Are You?" section, they leave the h out of how. Just noticed it.

My copy of Continued Story/Hi, How Are You has the same mistake.

Looks like the reviewer from allmusic.com was duped.
Here's what she says about the third song...
"Dead Dog Laughing in the Cloud," a reworked "Sorry Entertainer" with a bizarre Peter Gunn-theme guitar riff played on an acoustic guitar that sounds like it has rubber bands for strings.

It's pretty obvious it's the SAME version.  Plus, the dead give away was the lyrics being completely different in the liner notes.

Any word on how exchange for a cd without the mistake?  I know it says above to check www.rejectedunknown.com but I couldn't find anything.

Ive got the jewel case version of Hi How Are You from the DJ store, it doesnt have the error. That version does not have the lyric sheet/poster (is there a poster/lyrics for Yip/Jump?). is there anywhere to buy that seperately? Also on Yip/Jump does Speeding Motorcycle have the little jump in sound? Im assuming that was from the source...

The version that you bought is not the one that has the pressing error, it's the High Wire Music reissue that was released in August 2006.

I've never seen any information on the site about getting these CDs exchanged.  I've even contacted Daniel's brother about it and never got a response.  Hopefully the moderator will see the continued activity in this discussion thread and let us know what is up.
