Devil Town live version used in the documentary

Hey, new DJ fan and I've been looking for the version of Devil Town used in the movie Devil and Daniel Johnston.  It's live, and he strums guitar along with it (I'm sure you all know wehat I'm talking about, it opens the movie trailer and it was in the movie as well, I think after the plane accident story).

Anyway, from what my wife and I can uncover, it's a live recording from November 26, 2000 and it isn't on an album... can anyone confirm or deny, or better... point me to the song?

Are you referring to the sing-along from Stockholm? It's been too long since I've seen the film so I don't recall exactly how much is included but I think it's the entire song. The original version appears on 1990 which was recorded by Kramer at Noise NY.

The song you are talking about (in the first part of your post, where you mention it opening the film trailer and being in the movie along with the shot of the river and hills in west virginia) is called "spirit world rising," not "devil town," and it's available on the album 1990.

It sounds like the other song you're talking about is "devil town" which is also on 1990, as for the live version with people singing along, I have only heard of it being on the DVD.
