General Discussion / Fan Forums / Question about Daniel Vids

Seems that almost all of the videos of Daniel are either crappy cell phone quality or amateur quality - are they filming his concerts with professional equipment? Seems that a selection of particularly good shows would hit the spot for most fans. Maybe there and I don't know - I'm just curious. It's hard to turn people on to him with a 35 second clip w/ blaring sound and audience noise. Thanks - JJ

I'm sure you've consulted with his doctors and proven their various diagnoses wrong? You judge yourself as not being a writer b/c you've only sold one piece. Well, by that standard - Daniel MUST be a talented musician as he's sold hundreds of thousands of albums, sold-out concerts in the US and Europe, etc - by your own standards, you are a hypocrite, and a disgusting one at that. Please stop trying to make someone elses life failures and successes about you - it's not about you. Most of us here won't achieve what he has, and most famous people have some luck along the way. You make me sick with your certainty.

Well frankly, this lady - now deceased needed to get on with life. Holding on to a grudge like that is unhealthy and disgusting. Moreover, the very IDEA that her mincing little family feel they have anything to say about it is a joke. It was a bad thing, but not done out of malice or for personal reasons. But hey, they're a good Christian family, right? Forgiveness anyone?

Media pretty much controls what we see and how we see it unless we go out of our way to find good and meaningful things. There will be those who remember Daniel, but unfortunately he will never get the credit he deserves. Success and notoriety in music are measured in record sales and #1 chart topping hits.

General Discussion / Fan Forums / Can anyone edit the Daniel Wiki??
|
on: August 26, 2007, 10:17:27 AM

Someone has changed the wikipedia entry on Daniel. It is now absolutely disgusting and insulting to him. The "person" that wrote it basically calls in to question Daniel's abilities, insults his disorders, posted a terrible pic of Daniel and questions whether or not he is an artist. I know Wiki is not an academic journal or anything, but evidently there is a sub-human dullard with an ax to grind against Daniel and his fans. Can someone change it? I don't have the skill to write effectively enough. Thanks.

After the Highline show in NYC, I had so much in me that surfaced. His music really brought some pain to the surface and allowed me to deal with it. There was some kind of magic with me the whole time in NYC, and it was really like-altering. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

I saw the Highline show in NYC with my bro. It was beautiful. The idea that there should be any kind of censorship or concern over "jew jokes" or whatever nonsense the professional offendees got riled up about is ridiculous. Why not have him check with someone about every thing he says? I mean, hell, if even one person gets offended, that should curtail art, right? How about replacing the swastikas in The Sound of Music, and getting rid of the stereotypical Jewish accents in Fiddler?
Daniel should perform as he pleases. If people want to censor and get pissed about racial issues, start with rap and work your way up.
It was an intense 2 days up in New York and Daniel's magic permeated throughout. My life has been further changed. Thanks, Daniel.

I just bought tickets to the Highline Festival show for May 16th. Daniel IS playing there, right? It basically said that he was, but there was a little room for interpretation - can anyone confirm that this is indeed a daniel johnston show? I know there will be some other artists (that I care nothing for, but could make an impression) there.
It's kind of a special night, because my brother just moved to New York and we've developed a sort of "bond " in Daniel's music. I'll be flying in from Indiana and so we're going to make a 3 day mini-vacation out of it.
Can anyone tell me what to expect- what not to expect - what the atmosphere might be like? Just curious - thanks!

tickets? I am trying to find tickets for the highline show in NYC. For some reason, there is absolutely no info on where to get tickets. If it's sold out, there was nothing indicating that. What am I missing? My brother is moving to NYC next weekend, and I wanted to get tickets for us in lieu of a "party" for his move, as it was quite sudden. Any info would help.

"only a very stable and positive mind" ketamine mixed with acid and ecstasy? Sounds real stable. Don't you have a job or anything to do during the day?
yeh i agree that is very judgemental, i am young and youthfull and i am in college working hard on a music degree, experimenting with my minds creativity and potential is completely relevant and beneficial. My mind is stable, i couldn't be happier, life is about taking risks and experiencing new things, i respect my body completely i meditate, eat well and practice yoga. Drugs gets a lot of bad press because of negative people like you. Well, it's just an opinion. I do drugs too, I just think it's something personal. Also, I wish I had a penny for every drug user that fancies himself an artist and or musician. Usually, these people are marginally talented, but use their inclination towards getting high as a reconciliation/excuse to further their lifestyle. I think that's fine, but I don't understand why they have to use "art" as the conduit. Besides, I AM Judgemental Jones. Can I hear a sample of some of your music? YouTube is a good way to get that out.

General Discussion / Fan Forums / Re: daniel displays usa as the beast

He also draws Captain America the same day he draws the devil!?!?!
The point of this thread is? It's to jump on the bandwagon of belief that the US is evil and is a source of misery in the world. I'm ready to get the troops out of Iraq and let the Iraqis solve their own problems, BUT the idea that the United States is evil, or a "beast" is absolute stupidity. We are the first ones the world calls when there's a tsunami, earthquake, famine, etc. We are being asked to intervene in Darfur's genocide, we sent 100 billion to the tsunami victims. The funny thing is, the islamic nations and Israel seem to get a free pass on everything, and the US is blamed for everything. I'm not crazy about W Bush, but some people are sickeningly obsessive about finding anti-US sentiments in EVERYTHING. I'm sure there are codes in Daniel's art predicting George Bush conspiring to blow up the twin towers as well. Nice. Real nice.
