16  General Discussion / Fan Forums / how frequently do you listen to daniel? on: January 24, 2007, 06:20:19 PM
I got into daniel last march, I can honestly say i havnt gone one day with out listening to his songs. And i still listen to him as much as i did when i first really became obsessed by him(the day after i first discovered), i peaked back in march and i havnt troughed once.
To be honest its becoming a little unhealthy as i use to be known for discovereing new artists all the time but i really dont feel the need anymore and i'm studying and trying to compose music in college so im limited to what influences im getting, because all i listen to is Daniel, and maybe bjork and neil young if really feel like a change.
I'd estimate i listen on average 2 1/2 hours of daniel a day and he puts me to sleep every night so that another 2 hours.
I feel like his biggest fan, but obviously spending time on this forum there are others just as compelled, it doesnt even really matter,  i am just curious as to others listening habits,

nothing, hey joe, king weasel, grievences, walking the cow, held the hand, amongst others have  all raked over 200 plays on my i-tunes library play count.
Its a little worrying,, but i love it.

it was last march and i was browsing the latest trailers on the internet and came across the devil and daniel johnston, just from watching the trailer i was hooked and intrigued and was desperate to get my hands on his music, i was an instant fan. 2 weeks later i had all his albums.

Two questions

1-what is the name of the song Daniel cuts in with in running water revisited with? the lyrics go  "Devil played the game too long" it sounds really familiar and i really like it.

2-Who is the girl he sings with in the song? and is it the same girl as the baby we hear in 'rocket ship' and the songs we hear the baby on the tape cassette archive songs such as 'dream' and 'doodley squat', anyone notice how well the baby acompanies daniel on 'doodley squat'

I'm not sure i agree with everybody on this one, i mean daniel has been documenting his life since forever, what with personal recordings of his mother telling him off and other fights he's had with people, and he's able to share these personal moments by putting them between songs on his albums, it would seem only natural to document the best day of his life as daniel put it himself. Although it was a little cringing it was still beautiful and special to watch. Daniel wants to share his life with the world.
23  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Dont play cards with satan on: December 08, 2006, 10:40:11 AM
Is there an mp3 available of the 'dont play cards with satan' version he sings in the devil and daniel johnston? i think its much better than the 1990 version. The piano is beautiful and his emotion in the song is best ive ever heard from any artist
24  General Discussion / Biographical Forum / Re: Does anyone know if Dan had a lot of girlfriends? on: December 06, 2006, 08:14:19 PM
I think Daniel has shown me that I have overlooked the "simple" things in life, which really are not simple at all. In fact, the things I have thought I have mastered and have not thought about much since my younger years,  need a second look.  The simpler things led to the complicated ones that many of us are preoccupied with.  Don't know if I'm making much sense, but I have dfinitely had my life changed in a significant way through his music. I've come to make a couple of major decisions that I was scared to make before.
couldnt put it better myself
