1  General Discussion / Album Chat / Re: White Magic - ? on: May 30, 2005, 08:20:54 AM
I just got my copy of White Magic; always great to hear unreleased old stuff from Dan. is there was a way of knowing what year each song was written and recorded?

6  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Mary Lou Lord: Daniel's "Angel" on: March 25, 2004, 01:05:08 AM
One big difference is Daniel is alive and can choose if he wants his creation to sell cars or whatever. Nick Drake can not.
I'm glad Dan is making money but frankly I'd rather his great music was not used in ads. That is not why he wrote the songs for.
The sad thing here is that it seems it's Dan's only way to live of his art...

I saw this reissue of Nick Drake's "Pink moon", one of the most beautiful album that I know. And they put a sticker on it saying "as heard on the Wolkswagen commercial".
Nick Drake of all people, who died almost unknown in the late 70s and now they're making money with his music... that's sad....

All this mural story is just great...! Jeff Lewis sent a cover of one of his comics, featuring the Hi how are you mural, and they put it on HiHowAreYou.com.

Jeff also put an alert and a link on his site:

To me, Daniel is at his best alone. That's where his incredible songwriting skills really shine. I for one do not need the extra musicians and production (though I like a lot Fun and Fear, etc). So my best buy would be the re-issue of the two first cassettes: Songs of Pain and More Songs of Pain

Stress Records is still selling the cassettes right? that's where I got mine at the time, including The Christmas tape. Very cheap too!

maybe a new version of Toast would do that (I think the latest is Toast 5?), otherwise I know Sound App ( a freeware) can do that.
btw, I'm on Mac too, I can listen to the MP3 from the site but I cannot save them on my hard drive. How do you do that?

well I'm new here so correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I read somewhere here that the site would only share non comercial boot recordings and this is an official single... I don't know. What does M. webmaster say?

sure. there's enough rare b-sides now to make a good cd; that would be better than having to pay way too much on ebay
