YES "Welcome To My World" is a great comp and i great place to start. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED about the tracklisting I would have put Grievences on there.  Wait.. now what is the tracklist, exactly? |

I just got back from seeing it. I arrived a bit late, and started to watch it as Daniel was holding the camcorder up to a mirror and talking. How much of it did I miss? Did I miss anything good?? That was bugging me since I started watching. I found myself laughing more than feeling bad for Daniel. The man is brilliant, raw emotion at it's core. More interviews with Daniel would be great. Maybe even a few more live performances here and there. It's fantastic!!
Aaaarrrrghh... I wanna see this movie! But I'm on the wrong coast, won't be here for some time. |

My mom saw this, I didn't catch it.. but she knew I was a Daniel Johnston fan, and told me about it. We had a funny conversation: Mom: They said he couldn't sing too well or play his instruments too well. Me: Well.. he's not THAT bad.. but yeah. Mom: Sooooo.... why do you listen to him?  She just don't know.. |

Luke,
May I suggest that you begin with early stuff such as Yip Jump or the equivelent. You need o hear the formative years first.
If you want to "HEAR" what went on in Daniels mind then I suggest 1990. I have to be honest with you. You have to have a strong stomach for that one. I have listened to it once and I have never been able to listen to it again.
You couldn't take 1990? That's one of my favorites. I think once you've heard "Songs of Pain", you're ready for any Daniel Johnston. |

Does anyone know an exact day it'll be out to DVD/VHS/Beta-Max/Etc.?
There's only one Indie theater near me, and I'm pretty sure they're running this foreign flick for the next couple months.. so I'mma just buy/rent/steal/etc.

If you try hard enough, you can get almost any album you want on BearShare. I've not tried the tape albums like "Hi, How Are You?" (they're much more rare then anything I've attempted), but you could prolly get a few of those tracks, I bet.
But then, do try to buy if you have the financial means.
