46  General Discussion / Website Forum / New Site Members Area? on: August 03, 2004, 02:25:31 AM
Hey All,

Sorry about the confusion. The new site has a few more bugs than expected, and I'm working on solving all of them (it's a long list, if anyone saw the "Report a Problem" area). Dejected took the new site link off for now as it's becoming too much trouble to update both sites right now. The link is still there, it's just a little hidden. You just move your mouse to the left of the link for the old site, and it's there.

It is in a sense an update... a very big update.  Tongue

I'm working on solving these problems so we can completely and fully switch over to the new site. Hopefully it will be up and running soon, but no promises, as this part of creating a site becomes quite tedious and is not as predictable in how much time it will take.

Thanks and keep your eyes open for any developments. If you have any comments/suggestions, or believe you can contribute... don't hesitate to e-mail me.

A note for those who ever experience problems of any kind, don't hesitate to e-mail someone! Chances are we don't know about the problem but we can fix it! This also goes for questions of any kind!

Thanks for your patience... take it easy, later
47  General Discussion / Fan Forums / News Area - Screen size? on: June 26, 2004, 12:45:38 PM
Hey All,

I've found that for the Featured News to fit on the page properly
when you first enter the site, a visitors screen has to be at least
1024x768, if not bigger... I'm just wondering what size screen
everyone has and if anyone has been experiencing this problem?

Thanks, have a good one Cheesy

I have received and added all the "members" we have had sign up in total, so if you've signed up before you should be in the database now. The good news is there's over 1,500 people total who have signed up over the past year or two!  shocked wow!

The bad news is that because there are so many I was not able to update (most) everyone's information or picture. So more than 95% of people have a "blank" profile.  cry

More good news is that all you have to do is sign in and update your profile!  Cheesy

I completely forgot about this, but rather than you sending me an e-mail to know what your password is to access the new members area, you can simply go to:

Just enter your e-mail address and your password will be e-mailed to you. If you're not in the database (which not everyone is yet, only those who have had their profile posted on the current website), simply click "Become a Member" on the menu at the top of the screen and fill out the information. Sorry if you've filled out this stuff before already!

I will work on getting those people who have signed up, but haven't been posted on the current website yet, added to the database.

Also, don't forget you can go to "Preferences" once you've logged in and upload a picture of you choosing and change your password (for those who are already in the database).
51  General Discussion / Fan Forums / what does daniels family think of his music?? on: May 20, 2004, 08:49:15 PM
I was asked this while touring with my uncle in Europe last summer, and I think I was best able to sum it up in, "well, it's hard to see him as anything other than my uncle".  Cheesy

I don't think it's going to be the same with me (or other family members, though I'm not speaking for them) as it will be with the fans... cause, he's my uncle. It's hard to see him as a "musician" or "rock star" cause, well... he's my uncle  Tongue

I agree though that his music is like the fans describe it. It's honest and some of it is even insightful  wink , and I understand why everyone likes it   Cheesy

that's a good idea! I've changed it so the frog and the "rejectedunknown" logo at the top are now clickable and take you to the home page  Cheesy

Also, new "recommended" settings to view the site properly are:
  • Internet Explorer 5+
  • 1024x768+ resolution
  • Cookies enabled (for members and store sections)
  • Scripts allowed (to view lyrics, tabs, etc)
  • [/list:u]

For those who are interested, below is a link to the new rejectedunknown.com website. Please note the following:
  • There is a "Report a Problem" link at the top of the website. If you find errors, bugs, or just things you don't like about the site, please report them here.
  • The whole idea here is to fix problems before "officially opening the site", so please report things.
  • If you would like access to the new members only area, please e-mail me at drew@hihowareyou.com and I can send you your password. As soon as the site opens an e-mail will be sent to all members with their password and instructions.
  • The "Old Store" IS FUNCTIONAL. Check it out! Though just remember running through the PayPal checkout process WILL charge you. This is not "under construction" or in "test mode". (I am excited about the new store features, such as checking to see when your order gets shipped! So don't hesitate to add things to your shopping cart and take a look around  Cheesy  This will also help work out any bugs that may be lurking. Just remember that clicking "checkout" and going through the PayPal process WILL charge you.)
  • [/list:u]I suppose those are the highlights, here's the link:

Please report anything and everything. Even things you just find "annoying", or you don't think look right. The idea is to get everything working smoothly and looking the same on everyone's browsers.

That's ok, it should be at the top of all the forums listed as you first come to the messageboard... but just in case, here's a direct link:

I'm glad you brought this up! Cheesy

Take a look in the announcements area (I'm about to post), and I think you'll be very excited!

The truth is the current way we have rejectedunknown.com set up, updates and changes to the site can become long and tedious tasks. That's all about to change though! We're about to switch over to a new, database driven rejectedunknown site very soon (really)! If worst comes to worst, we will be launching it at the end of May or early early June.

With the new site, updating and changing things will be MUCH easier, which potentially means MORE content can be delivered to you, FASTER.  Shocked

I'm very excited about it as I have been working long and hard the past months, figuring out exactly how to do this, and I'm very happy with what I've decided to run with! I hope you are too!

Not only that, but after the initial release of the new site, I already have MANY updates and enhancements planned for it to make even EASIER and BETTER than it will be when you first see it!

I know you've been waiting a long time for it, and I thank you for your patience!! Good things DO come to those who wait!

Again, check the announcements, I explain it all there!  Cheesy

(I also explain who I am for those who don't know)
57  General Discussion / Album Chat / selfishness is mis-understood on: March 12, 2004, 12:19:36 PM
selfishness is not keeping what belongs to you.   selfishness is not declining to give to others what belongs to you.  selfishness is not hiding or hoarding what belongs to you.   selfishness is not "showing off" what belongs to you.

selfishness covets what belongs to others and maliciously seeks to destroy it.  selfishness seeks to rob others from from enjoying what is rightfully theirs to enjoy.

selfishness in its maturity announces "If I can't have it, nobody can have it"
