1  News and Info / News & Announcements / Messageboard Registration on: May 11, 2011, 11:20:55 AM
Hi Everyone!

If you're looking to sign-up to the messageboards, please send an e-mail to drew [at] hihowareyou dott com.

I apologize that the automated registration is disabled; thus is the result of spammers and bots. Whenever we enable registration, we are overrun with spam accounts. We're working to resolve this by moving to a new messageboard platform as soon as we can.

Thanks so much for your patience, understanding and especially your love and support for Daniel!

Just an FYI:

I've received complaints about his high prices from people in the past.

The 15 cassette set that he sells for $249, he bought directly from us (3 of them) back in March for less than half that.
I think he also was selling the handbag before, which he also bought directly from us (hihowareyou.com) back in March.

As always: buyer beware I suppose.

LeLouch: This is the official tab request thread for Daniel Johnston songs on the Daniel Johnston forum... you might be better off finding Zebrahead tabs in a Zebrahead forum.  afro

Just a quick update, it looks like Google has unmarked us and traffic to the site is picking back up.

Please let me know if anyone experiences problems in the future. Thanks!

We've been marked in Google's index as "hosting badware" and it may take a while to get rid of this.  I've requested a review of our site by Google.

Somehow, someone was able to insert a bit of javascript into our index.htm page.  We've modified all our passwords and access to the site in an effort to stop this and we're still looking into exactly how it was done. The main index.htm page appears to be the only one that was modified.

The javascript was not harmful, but would simply redirect users to other sites.  One of these sites was yandex dot com, which is actually just a Russian search engine (like Google).

I'll post updates if I get anything meaningful. Thanks.

Hey Wickedwill,

Sorry I'm just now seeing this!

To get things put up on rejectedunknown, send an e-mail to dejected@rejectedunknown.com.  While I'm the "web guy", until I get a new database-driven site for rejectedunknown.com and hihowareyou.com up, Dick still does all the updating for the sites by hand and does take requests!

Thanks!

Rob,

I know the forum accounts for known bots (like Google, Yahoo, etc)... but it won't know spam bots, so it's likely a lot of those "guests" are spam bots.

Since yesterday we've only have one person (or bot??) successfully go through registration, so hopefully that helped!

Also, for those interested, here's some information on this:

Apparently everyone is having this same problem.

Ok,

Taking one more shot at this before I search for alternatives.

I've increased the captcha difficulty to high and required all new members to confirm their e-mail address as well as be approved by an admin before they can post.  So if I still get lots of registrations in my inbox now I'll definitely find something new that works to keep stuff out of my inbox!  tongue

They've clearly figured out how to get around SimpleMachine Forums, and there are some plug-ins that use Akismet Spam Protection to moderate post-by-post... so I'll be looking into other options like that.

Thanks everyone!

Hey Guys,

I did the upgrade today and made the registration captcha a bit different, so hopefully we'll notice an improvement!

If we don't notice an improvement we may just move over to a different forum software.

Thanks!  smiley
13  News and Info / News & Announcements / Re: New HiHowAreYou.com Website Redesign on: September 08, 2008, 12:53:55 PM
Thanks guys!

Great idea on some artwork extending out the sides!  (Maybe this will help add a "cluttered" feeling to it, ohjoy?)

Thanks OhJoy for all your input!  (It really is great!)

You're very right about the fonts at the top.  I'll have to check into why it's doing that (different font or maybe it's just the size that makes it look that way).

The type style for the HI HOW ARE YOU at the top is actually not type at all, it's Daniel's handwriting!  So it makes it hard to match it when trying to create words with similar style.  I will definitely look into finding something more resembling or maybe have daniel write the words out and we'll scan them in.

The cluttered, uneasy style is something we know resembles Daniel well, but I've also wanted new visitors to feel warm, welcomed and not confused!  So there is a trade off.  The reason for the current website being like it is, is not intentional actually!  It's just what happens when you loosely use FrontPage for updates over a period of years. Smiley

I'm really exciting about moving news and tour updates to an actual database, and providing RSS feeds and Twitter updates to make it easier for the internet savvy to keep up without having to try.

I'm going to keep going over your feedback and try organizing another modified rendition.

Thanks so much!

Hey Everyone!

I've had someone do a redesign of Daniel's Official website and I would like any and all feedback about it!

You can check it out at: http://dev.hihowareyou.com/

Let me know what you love, like, don't like or hate!

I have lots of exciting new things in store for the websites (especially rejectedunknown.com), and this is just one wave of many re-workings.

Thanks!
15  News and Info / News & Announcements / Store support requests sent from the RejectedUnknown.com site! on: June 20, 2008, 09:31:03 PM
Hey guys,

This may not apply to any of our regular visitors here; but if you have in the last 2 months or so, tried to e-mail us using the help form on the rejectedunknown.com store, you may have noticed we haven't replied to you!

I have just found that the e-mails from the rejectedunknown.com site have not been properly forwarding to our new mail servers. They have been going straight to our old servers which no one ever checks.

I'm working to fix the problem (I still don't know why it's doing it exactly), and I'm also working to answer to back log of e-mails that have gone unanswered. If you're one of those people, please accept my sincerest apologies and assure you we're not ignoring you or trying to take your money and run! I feel we do everything we can when there's a problem to make our customer and fan happy; but that's only when we get the e-mail about the problem!

Please do contact us using the hihowareyou.com help form, since that forwards to the right servers.

We're also working on compensation to those of you who feel you have been unfairly neglected or mistreated by our lack of response. I'm personally responding to the e-mails that are sitting in this forgotten inbox over the next few days.

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding if you have been affected by this. And always thanks so much for your support for Daniel. Daniel can't do what he does without you. Thanks so much.

UPDATE: Problem fixed! You can now contact using the help form on both store sites.

UPDATE 2: This also applies to some e-mails from yipeyetunes.com!
