I've heard Beck's covers of Daniel Johnston.. quite frankly, I was disappointed. I felt he could have done worlds more then he did.

I once read an article on Audiogalaxy (does anyone remember it? downloaders!?!?) on "Weirdest Artists" or something a long those lines. I remember Jandek was listed. Then I read; "Daniel Johnston? Hey, wasn't Cobain often pictured wearing that one frog shirt?" I decided to check out "Hey Joe" (expecting a ukelale Hendrix cover or something) My first thought was "Woah, this guy isn't weird. He's great!!"

I always thought it was 'I was looking for love, but all I got was a body'. Which makes more sense considering what it's about...
 Really? I always thought it said "I was looking for love, but all I got was a BITE". OUCH! Tuna Ketchup is probably one of my favorite, if not favorite Johnston songs. It's fantastic. |

Lonely - Want to let us know why you cannot send $10? Sorry - I don't try to keep track of who is who on here...So far, I only 'know' who Henry, Jordy, Jaimi, Jeff, and I are  Are you a kid? Is that why you cannot send $10? I feel badly that you want to but cannot... You know, you can still send him a card or letter, on your own, via his PO Box, even if you cannot afford to chip in on the house-warming gift  Gina Gina, I currently don't have ANY money, BUT I just read that you're accepting funds until the 31 st of Decemeber, is that right? If so, I'll be glad to send out $10 in the next month or so. I've always wanted to send him this old, bootlegged Beatles poster I bought in Mexico a few years ago. I think he'll it, I just might send it out too. |

I remember once playing a compilation I had made of my favorite Johnston songs and my mother said to me "That little girl can't sing very well...." I laughed and told her a bit of the man and his music. She said he sounded really sad and must have a great sense of humour. I think she "gets it" now.
