it's also # 16 of 50 on this list... It's no rolling stone.. but perhaps that's a good thing.

5  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Re: how did you first hear/become a fan? on: September 26, 2007, 01:54:33 PM
I first heard him on the KIDS soundtrack, I bought it cause I was a big Lou Barlow fan and fell in love with the two tracks daniel did. I've been hooked ever since.

I was in high school,so im' guessing this was around 1997, about ten years ago maybe.
6  General Discussion / Fan Forums / "canadian rock star" covers daniel on: May 29, 2007, 09:32:04 PM
from the best free music magazine in the nation http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2007/05/2812.cfm

I don't know if he was big in the states but Mathew Good was huge in Canada in the 90's. I wasn't a huge fan, but I guess he wasn't too bad. Maybe a little middle of the road sounding.

But yeah, as far as canada's concerned that's a pretty big name. Should be interesting to hear.

I wanted to go to this so badly. unfortunately work wouldn't give me the time off to make a trip halfway across the country.

But Jandek is in montreal next month! and all systems are go for that one!

yes they came to seattle last year man it was great.
i have to say i seen j mascis and the fog and j solo.
but nothing beats the original line up and most dont know that
lou barlow is a great bass player. lets hope that they can get,
allong with each other for a tour for the new record.

Right on, I saw them in Halifax Nova Scotia in a really small venue. probably 300 capacity. although i'm not the best judge of these things.

I was right infront of J's amp rig, and I had the earplugs and whatnot, half way through the first song, i took them out just to see if it was really as loud as they said he was. Jesus man, nearly took my head off. I figured, if I ever go deaf, it might as well be because of this. Threw the ear phones away, and my ears hurt for a week.

Best night ever.

Lou is the sweetest guy, was completely nice to talk to. didn't get to meet J. But Murph was awesome. Shared a beer with us. fun fun fun.

Beach Boys. Always and Always The Beach Boys are my favorite

Skip Spence
The Cramps
Eric's Trip
Elevator (also known as Elevator To Hell, Elevator Through Hell, Elevator Through)
Sun Ra
The Sonics
Half Japanese
Purple Knight
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Langley Schools Music Project
Phil Spector
All 60's and early 70's Motown Singles
Woody Guthrie
Blind Lemon Jefferson
Sonic Youth
The Shaggs
Sigor Ros
Sufjian Stevens
Julie Doiron
Herman Dune
Clem Snide
M Ward
Country Joe and the Fish
The Seeds
The Haunted (montreal 60's garage rock, not that other band of the same name)

I really have to add Final Fantasy, Xiu Xiu, Ninja High School, and The Hidden Cameras. Because they all went through my cd player this morning, I never moped so hard. nor have I danced so hard. Ninja High School is the best Hip Hop group of all time.

I don't know. this is silly. i can't pick favorites. I have thousands of albums. i love them all dearly.
13  General Discussion / Fan Forums / Daniel Interview with Canadian Magazine on: January 14, 2007, 12:56:37 AM
This is kind of old, I would have posted it sooner had I known the magazine had an online version. Maybe it was posted already anyway who knows.

does anyone also have a poster or know who played this show with daniel. I believe Julie Doiron may have, or i've heard rumours she played with daniel once, she's a hometown hero to me . just curious.

None other than the classic walking the cow.
