Title: The clacking percussion sound on Yip Jump Music
Post by: dables on October 14, 2010, 03:46:39 PM
Ok, so what exactly is the clacking percussion sound on all the songs on Yip Jump? Is it Daniel hitting the keys really hard? Is it some kind of built-in metronome/drum machine on the organ? Are they daniel whacking on a table or something for percussion during an overdub? WTF is that sound and how did he make it?

I read on rejectedunknown.com that the sound is daniel over-dubbing percussion by beating on a cardboard box. Don't know how true that is but it does kind of sound like that. But on "The Beatles" there is obviously some sort of drum or drum machine.

I only ask because I think it sounds awesome and I would love to know how he did it, but I don't know if all the sounds are just his clacking away on the organ really hard, or what, there's definitely some different percussive sounds going on throughout the album. I dunno...
