so I have a recording of dairy queen (memory of love) and I think I've figured out the chords but I'm not sure because daniel's guitar is out of tune.  can anyone help me on this?  it's a great song and I don't want to play it half-assed.

thanks

ps

if you want, i've transcribed the lyrics and I could post my best guess as to the chords with the proper caveat

Here's the chords as far as I can tell

G                             E
/  /  /  /    /   /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /

C                            G
/  /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /

(repeat)

C                            G             D
/  /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /

C                            G             D
/  /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /

A7
/  /  /  /    /  /  /  /     /  /  /  /    /  /  /  /

Great song...

Thanks Zach. I dig the A7 at the end of the chorus.  Here's what I originally came up with, let me know what you think.  Perhaps we can mixed and match.

intro:

G Em C D(?)

verse:

G Em C G

chorus:

Em G D x2
Em G D C

outro

G C

I listened to 3 different live versions of the song to check if it was E minor or E major.  On two of the versions, the G string is somewhat muted and you can almost interchange either one convincingly.  On the other live version though I heard a pretty distinct E major chord.

Regarding the C versus E minor chord at the start of the chorus... One thing I've noticed that's pretty consistent about Daniel's guitar playing is that when he plays a C chord he lets the low E string ring.  I remember when I was learning to play guitar, I was taught me to mute that string so the root of the chord "C" would be the lowest tone - which I think is pretty standard, though some people like to fill out the sound playing a "G" on the sixth string as well.  Anyway, the point is, sometimes Daniels C and Em  chords sound similar due to the low E string ringing through both of them.  I find that I really have to listen to the second string... if it's an open "B", he's probably playing an E, if's a "C", then it's C chord.  I'd be interested in hearing some other opinions though!

Good luck with it!

Hmm, I don't know the song. I was trying to figure out "Tuna Ketchup" earlier today. I can't seem to remember any of the lyrics while I play it though.  huh
