I'm new to this forum so i'm sorry if the topic already exists or something.....
so what's your fave cover of a Daniel Johnston song? The list is so huge but for me, as far as known bands or artists, my fave would have to be Eels-Living life....he keeps it simple and true. I need to sift through and find my fave unkown but at least that got the ball rolling and my first post out of the way!
.......
i have recently added a cover i did of 'True love will find you in the end' to the list....my names Mat Hathorn if u wanna check it out, it's in the list of covers on the fansite wink  i recorded it on my own using garageband on my mac....i am not a musician, but i gave it a go anyway!

Send us a link to your cover!
People will be singing Daniel the way people sing Woodie Guthrie, for generations.
And I like many of the covers that I've heard through the years, but the one's I prefer are those done spontaneously, for their own entertainment, by people who no one has ever heard of before.

when i first heard 'sorry entertainer', straight away i thought i could imagine nirvana doing a cover of it especially seeing as though kurt was a big fan of dan....

...well in the covers list,  check out the cover of sorry entertainer by a band called Ed the Tractor! it's just how i imagined it sounding....not that it's nirvana but they have a similar sound. check it out it's actually pretty good!

I don't think that my favorite Daniel Johnston cover will ever change.  It's "Some Things Last A Long Time" by Built to Spill

Dan's music had bounced around and narrowly avoided me for years, I think.  When I heard The Normal Years it was my favorite song on the album.  I knew it was a cover, but could never remember by who.  When I discovered Daniel, to the point where I knew who he was as an artist and knew when I heard his music, I still hadn't connected the dots.  So, when I did, everything made sense and I still credit that Doug Martsch as providing that first real introduction to Dan's music.  For that reason alone, it's a hard one to beat for me.
