I didn't find out about Johnston until a few months ago and haven't been able to listen to anything else since.

I'm curious about many of the references made throughout Johnston's music. I understand the obvious ones like funeral, but know nothing about references to cows, for example. I'm drawing a blank on the numerous other references he makes, but another example is him saying he almost got hit by a truck, which I'm assuming is a real story?

Also, I'm assuming Laura (from Held the Hand) a different girl than Laurie. Is that correct?

Wow. I never even thought about that.

I just assumed it WAS Laurie. (didn't even realize the difference)

Laura Grimm is Cigarette Butt Girl. My sister. Yes, he did collect cigarette butts for her.
