So how many records has Daniel actually sold over the years?

Hows Fear Yourself doing compared to say Rejected Unknown??

I really don't know.

Someone ought to contact Jeff Tartakoff for starters, and see how many tapes he has shipped over the years.

On the CDs, my guess is in the 10's of thousands - no gold plaque for Daniel.   A wild guess is 30-50 thousand total.   Margin of error 250%.

Does anyone else know any differently?

Interesting (and valid question).  I'll ask around.

But I don't have a clue about the tapes....

My guess is that Gammon sold about 30 copies of Rejected Unknown and maybe 60 or 70 copies of Fear Yourself.  It's a shame Daniel can't be on a label that people actually respect.  Stress, Homestead and Shimmydisc were all much more successful at promoting Daniel's career than Atlantic or Gammon.

Well, I don't know about that. The most common (the only?!) Daniel Johnston Cd you'll find in Sweden is Fun which was on Atlantic?

From 1986 through January 3, 2004 Stress Records has sold 19,868 cassettes and given away countless others for promotional purposes.
