How, Hi Are You?

This IS the Not Daniel Johnston section after all, so it's about time I started tooting my own sweets! Here's the first of many Youtube videos and audio downloads to come; my own answer to "Walking the Cow", which is naturally called "Milking the Dog":

They laughed when I sat down at the piano.
They didn't think that I could play.
But their laughter turned to amazement,
When I got back up and carried it away...

Ha ha...that's pretty cool (and catchy!). I like the line about getting molested in jail! grin

Are you the same Not Daniel Johnston that got a bit of coverage in the San Francisco weeklies in the mid 90s?  In connexion with SXSW, IIRC?

If so, I always wanted to hear your music.

That would be me! I played a couple of songs while Daniel and the Rhythm Rats got set up, and the SF Bay Guardian called me something like "a scruffy mountain man with flannel shirt and Coke-bottle glasses" (the review was still on the web until a few months ago when they revamped their site).

To see what they were referring to, you'll see me at the start of this Daniel/ R. Rats video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcATj7uG5bU

On the other hand, Dan makes a cameo at the beginning of MY video from 1987 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dTvCzijCco

Now, as to the reason I'm posting here tonight...

I'm not sure why, but I put a mess of songs up on the irritating "imeem" site:

http://middlenamewayne.imeem.com/

You have to register to listen and it's a pain in the butt... however, if you do so, you not only get to hear my own finest recordings, you also get to hear the original improv demo that "Rock Around the Christmas Tree" (from "LOST & FOUND") is based on, and the totally stereophonic, utterly psychotronic, and partially bionic 1987 "die laughing" version of "Wicked Will" that's never appeared on a Daniel Johnston album. Actually, of the 8 songs I uploaded, Daniel can be heard on 4.

The songs on IMEEM are totally worth signing up for - any way of getting a downloadable version of Wicked Will?

Rock Around The Christmas Tree improv is hilarious - some of his funniest lyrics.
Thanks for putting these up!

Now that you say that, I can totally remember reading those exact words.  At some brunch place in the Berkeley flatlands.  Will have to check out your IMEEM when I am not at work.
