Uh.  I know I'm new at this, and I admit this kind of thing doesn't come easily to me, but it seems like everything happens under "fan forum" and that is open ended "anything" topic

I wish I had an instinct for organization and topics, because new visitors must be lost in our posts - I mean regular visitors come and go straight to the new stuff, but everyone else has to weed their way through it.

Then again, I think some topics start out one way but turn into something else entirely.  So where to you "add" a new topic?

I'm not complaining, just trying to see if anyone has any ideas about cleaning up the board to make it friendlier to new visitors.

I agree with recent posts that some worthy things are being said.  But I wonder how many new visitors ever get that far!

maybe you could have a area that you can put the topics that have been worn out and kinda like archive it.

I think this will always happen bro....just the way of the internet.  I'm a part of a couple different boards and things seem to always get off topic.  I say just go with the flow....people will know what to respond to....if they're true Dan fans that is. Hehee.  Just My Opinion.

hey dejected

I know this is kind of an old post, but if your still looking for suggestions, you could take a look at

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/ and
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8709

for some ideas how other sites do it (... sorry, they're not the most clever of examples, but you'll get the idea.)

in the first site, they've got a crap load of main forums, but most people use only one, so they try and keep it accessible by having various subforums.  (scroll down the page, you'll get the jist).  On top of that, if you click into one (try the USMLE one), they've got a whole bunch of stickies for THE main topics everyone is looking for.  You could maybe do a couple of stickies like "Dan - the Man,"  and "The Music"  "The Movie" .... so, everyone if everyone is going into fan forum, it's still navagable.

The other site is much more boring, but it's just a thread someone started and the host was able to politely redirect the guy to a thread already going.

hope that helps.

... btw, if you see Dan anytime soon, give him a hug for me!
